Carville: ‘Wokeness’ is the politics of the faculty lounge — ‘just idiotic'

Saturday on CNN’s “Smerconish,” Democratic strategist James Carville followed up on an interview he conducted with the left-leaning website Vox last month, warning Democrats about the dangers of overreaching on the so-called “woke” culture.

"First of all, it sounds — I call it the politics of the faculty lounge, and in my view, if you want to — in politics, you should speak the language of the people,” he said. “You should speak clear, direct English and address people as they address each other, not like the humanities department at Amherst wants you to address everybody.”

“Most of the people that are enthused by this kind of dialogue live in Boston or Manhattan or Washington, but we’re going to carry D.C. and New York and Massachusetts,” Carville said. “We’re not going to win an election in a faculty lounge. That’s just — that’s just idiotic. I mean, I’m not saying you’re idiotic. That whole assumption is idiotic. And the number of people that have contacted me or had people contact me after this has been enormously gratifying. Everybody just wanted this temperature to break. I think that — I get people saying they’re woke, and they’re tired of being woke. People want to — after this pandemic and stuff, people want to go about their lives, they want to enjoy it, they want to enjoy their friends.”

Wokeness is the policy of totalitarianism, period. Anti-democratic socialist elites and corporatists (fascists)are behind this attempted take down of liberty in American society. It will fail. They will pay the price.

Yep, the left in the Democratic Party seems more interested in pushing ideology and pie-in-the-sky utopias than in actually getting progressive programs put in place. Good thing we have a centrist like Biden at the helm. Of course, nothing going on in the Democratic Party is as chaotic and wheels spinning as what is going on in what's left the Republican Party, thanks to Trump. :)

Actually, I believe leadership on the left is starting to realize that politics is the art of the possible, so they are pushing for the pie in the sky, but will ultimately settle for a nice square meal. Kinda like they did when they grudgingly voted for Biden.

Now that's progress.

Well we all know what happened with LBJ’s great society, and Biden’s left of that.

Hazardous waste is usually associated with cradle to grave and now we have Biden’s economic policies.

Yeah, for the most part it worked pretty well before his Republican successors made a point of starving it for funds. Gee, it's almost like 400 years of oppression can't be overcome in one generation or something...

Yes, we do. He passed the Civil Rights Act which gave black oppressed people in the USA their Civil and voting Rights.

"Yet for all Johnson’s grandiose rhetoric, the Great Society was more centrist—and is more critical to the nation’s social and economic fabric—than has been commonly understood. "

"The presidential aides who conceived and implemented its component parts rejected policies that would enforce equality of income, wealth or condition. They did not broadly support quantitative measures like cash transfers or a guaranteed minimum income but, rather, believed that qualitative measures like education, workforce training, access to health care, food security and full political empowerment would ensure each American a level playing field and equal opportunity to share in the nation’s prosperity."

It.always pays to get your facts right.. by not listening to right wing propaganda sources....which started in this case with Gingrich and Reagan.

LBJ was a moderate, just like Biden is. That, I think, is the position from which citizen-supportive law is made.

Progressive programs are pie-in-the-sky utopias.

Yep, he was a moderate in the Senate, but his administration is the first truly progressive one in decades. About freakin' time.

As we speak Joe Biden is busy making the CCP, Iranians, Fascists and everywhere, happy. He's selling out his country and destroying its future.

So the likes of you have been saying about every Democratic president for at least a hundred years. Can't you at least think of some new insults?

That and Vietnam really put a damper on spending for Johnson's war on poverty.

Totally agree by the way, the GOP wants everything to happen instantly or it's a failure. Obamacare is a good example of this even despite their attempts to repeatedly sabotage it.

Why so you don't have to get slapped around by reality so much??

:D

I am not a hundred years old and Democrats haven't been Communists for a hundred years either. They deserve what's coming.

WHOOOOOSH!

Look up! That's my point, miles over your head!

Absolutely...moderates have the best chance at this and getting thing accomplished.

The GOP is so busy accusing the Dems of being far left and acting on saying no to anything the Dems do....they fail to accomplish anything.

In the meantime, Dems go about getting things done for the citizens.

^^^this is spot on

Agreed.

James Carville is 100% correct.

If this continues, one day we're going to wake up in a country that we don't recognize.

We as Americans used to pride ourselves over our abilities to respect each other's opinions and the right to voice those opinions. We used to disagree amicably. It seems now that we can no longer agree to disagree and we must eliminate those who disagree with us. That's not healthy. Ban opinions from the public square, those opinions don't "go away", they go underground and and grow in the shadows, especially opinions that the MAJORITY hold.

Thanks for confirming that you understand Biden is a "moderate" there to lure the moderates into voting for a leftist puppet....a commie cuck....Joe "whatever woke-O-haram demands!!" Biden who will give the leftist or "progressives", a deceptive and incorrect label, whatever they want.

You and all the comrades praise this, just as rightguide said you do.
