Looks like something bad is going to happen in Elizabeth City, North Carolina tonight.

How Bad?

Cops publicly executed a suspected drug dealer on camera last Wednesday.

  • Three officers have already "resigned" and seven more have been suspended. That alone should give you some idea of the magnitude of the fuck-up.
  • The district attorney wants to suppress the bodycam footage, restricting it to 20 meaningless seconds after the execution was carried out.
  • The city closed all government offices for the day
  • The city request riot control (full armor) police from every jurisdiction in a 20 mile area.

Edited to add: looks like the EMS transcript will report suspect was shot in the back.

Edit 2: Sheriff claiming resignations are "strictly coincidental". Nothing to see here. Move along, citizen.

So far, they couldn't be handling this any worse.

At some point, I fully expect a U.S. police dept somewhere to withhold footage in a similar situation, stoke the fires of unrest, and then release footage that completely exonerates officers in an underhanded "See? The public always overreacts" conditioning tactic.

I don't think this will be one of those times, though. Get ready...

There has already been a bit of that with the murderer, Chauvin. "See? We police our own - justice served!"

WTF did you expect from Chauvin verdict?
Other than one well known knucklehead on this board, I don't think you can find too many people who think Chauvin acted appropriately. The man is a criminal.

Seven sheriff's deputies have since been placed on administrative leave.
Three others resigned...

(bodysong comment -

I do not expect to hear a scrap of truth from the police.

Are they secretly training for some version of Armageddon, or Apocalypse ?

Using living bodies from minority communities as practice dummies, during their
"training exercise" missions ?)

Trump Loyalist dominated states have laws protecting motor vehicle operators from liability

It does not matter to Trump Loyalists that Heather Heyer is rolling in her grave,
or the dozens of injured protesters that are still suffering from their injuries and
maiming.

GOP Criminalizes Dissent with Anti-Riot Laws Targeting Black Lives Matter
& Anti-Pipeline Protests

April 26, 2021

Last Monday, Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis signed a controversial
law that’s widely viewed as a response to the Black Lives Matter movement. Under
the new law, which went into effect immediately, a public gathering of three or more
people can be classified as a “riot.”

It grants civil immunity to drivers who run their cars into crowds of protesters,
even if the driver kills someone.

So, we’ve seen at least 15 bills introduced that would create new immunity for drivers
who hit protesters with their cars — so, the one in Florida, this bill that just got passed
in Oklahoma. There’s a bill in Iowa that’s about to be passed.

This must be what AJ means when he says everyone is jealous of the US. No weekly rioting in Canada, just peaceful living. It sure sucks.;)

Body-camera footage of N.C. deputies fatally shooting Black man
will not be released to the public, judge rules

April 28, 2021

The judge concluded that the full video would be released to the family,
but not for 30 to 45 days, which, he said, is when the North Carolina State
Bureau of Investigation is expected to complete its probe of the shooting.

The DA says victims car contacted officers twice before deadly force was used.

The DA, Andrew Womble, is fighting against public release of the video. His actions seem geared towards "protecting the police" rather than seeing justice prevail.

The governor of North Carolina has issued a public vote of "no confidence" in DA Womble, asking for a special prosecutor, further establishing Womble as "the policeman's friend in court".

Womble is a declared candidate for Superior Court judge in November and seems to be using the case to make him a darling of right wing voters. He refused to meet with the local NAACP chapter.

Okay, but the bottom line is, only a judge can release those tapes under their law and he's so far refused to do so.
