You really can't live without a Ginsu steak knife. Never mind that other knives cut through soda cans just as well. With a little clever marketing and the sense of urgency conveyed that you just can't live a good life without a set, Ginsu has become one of the most popular(purchased) knives sets to ever clog that back of the kitchen utensil drawer and never see the light of day, nor a steak, again.
And so are fad guns purchases such as we see in 2019 and 2020. Research (see link and referenced research in the link) that most folks never ever use the gun the purchased, that was supposed to make them "feel safe".
Question, how can one feel safe from something they buy out of reaction(fear or lacking, as with the Ginsu Knives) especially when they never get used and are stored away in a closet shoe box and are forgotten? Maybe Americans just love stuff....i.e. the vast empire of storage rental units that have appeared in the last two decades.
Maybe it is just the idea that I have gun somewhere if I need it that satiates Americans. Like Ginsu Knives or flex seal?
