Former VP Walter Mondale

He didn't lose all states. He won Minnesota (plus the District of Columbia). Since it was brought up, though, it would be instructive to see how he handled defeat in contrast to how Donald Trump is handling it. Wanna guess who was more adult with that?

Um, yes he did. He lost the popular vote TWICE in fact, and both the popular vote and the electoral vote in the past election. You really should pay more attention to current events if you are going to post on this board.

I was only 11 in 1984, but that election taught me a lesson I've never forgotten: when people say they want leaders who will make tough choices, it's only words.

That election was pretty overwhelming. I'd say Americans got exactly what they wanted. Dont know what tough choices Mondale would have made compared to Reagan but its clear what the people wanted. Like maybe more clear than any election since Washington.

I was referring to Mondale being honest about his intention to raise taxes to reduce the national debt. Almost 40 years later, voters still whine about the budget and how we've got to balance it, but those same voters will almost always fall for the latest snake oil salesman who says he can cut taxes and balance the budget at the same time, decades of evidence to the contrary.
