I think the SNL opening skit covered it best last week.

"Ain't nothin gonna happen".

I don't see a 2nd degree Murder Conviction given the high bar of proof about what Chauvin intended while on Mr. Floyd's neck.

I thinj 3rd degree Murder is entirely proved and given how racist(soft racism) and systemically racist the USA has been to this day...I see an aquital here even though I would strongly disagree with it.

Manslaughter is what he will be charged with and he might get a light sentence as a first time convicted offender.

Either way, this is a lose lose situation and the country is gonna burn again because of this idiot Chauvin.

What are your thoughts?

What I hope: 3rd Degree murder
What I think: hung jury.
Worst case scenario: "not guilty", followed by 5 nights of rioting.

Conviction on Murder 3
Overturned on appeal for failure to change venue
New trial ordered
Acquittal

.
The state didn't have to prove much intent, just that Chauvin intended to use the level of force that he did. The state proved that beyond a reasonable doubt.

Did that level of force constitute felony assault; and did it significantly contribute to George Floyd's death??? That is the question the jury must deliberate.

I believe Chauvin did commit felony assault by kneeling on George Floyd's neck for 9 1/2 minutes; 3 1/2 minutes of which Mr. Floyd was unresponsive with no breathing or pulse detected. His failure to place Mr. Floyd in the side recovery position, and his failure to initiate CPR also supports that conclusion. I also believe his actions did significantly contribute to George Floyd's death.

That warrants a 2nd degree murder conviction under Minnesota statutes.

I think Chauvin will go to prison. I have no idea if there will be a hung jury from this particular jury, though.

I'm gonna swing for the fence on this one: Guilty on all three counts. I think the SNL prediction will finally fall.

Chauvin could have quit when Floyd lost his pulse, and he didn't. He picked gravel out of a tire instead. He will serve hard time.

Buh-bye, murderer. Cops will avoid wearing sunglasses on the top of their head starting with Chauvin's conviction.

Yup, just like democracy leftist don't accept justice when they don't get their way.

Also hung jury.

There are several points at which a mistrial could have been called, and should have. The judge evn mentioned one yesterday: Loudmouth Waters' thinly-veiled threats.

Any conviction will not stick for long.

I would be surprised if they couldn't get one overturned on appeal.

Yeah, his not getting off Mr. Floyd's neck is very problematic and does appear to show intent, or it could interpreted this way. Chauvin early shows an utter lack of human compassion and indifference for human life.

It's a high bar....all jurors have to agree.

I know.

All it takes is one Ramone or one BoBo on the jury to ignore that a videotaped murder took place, and there are so many of these assholes in the USA.

Correct, and a bit of "soft racism". The kind we see everyday. Not the vehemently racist stuff we see here on lit from our white nationalist.

The average everyday sort from certain folks who have never had any experience with the experiences Mr. Floyd has had his whole life.

Unless the jury sequestration somehow failed and the jurors were subject to those threats, her words are meaningless. The judge was just properly calling her to task and telling her to shut the fuck up and butt out. Nobody is getting a new trial because someone said something that the jury didn't hear.
