The refreshing new American president said he was sending two American destroyers into the Black Sea. Putin said he wasn't, Biden blinked and said "never mind."
Biden's administration announced Tuesday plans to send the two destroyers through the Kerch Strait to the Black Sea, perhaps to remind Russia it couldn't run roughshod over Ukraine. Russia told the U.S. to stay away "for their own good."
Biden's team took that to heart. After Team Biden cleaned the shit out of their pants, they ordered the destroyers to turn around.

I'm not going to debate the merits of getting involved in the Russia-Ukraine dispute. I don't know enough about it and the balance of power and all that, but my gut feeling is that it's not worth American lives.
You don't put American prestige on the line by announcing you are sending two war ships into hostile territory, then back down when the little dog barks. That makes us look weak.

The transit by the two destroyers was routine and Biden's decision to cancel the transit was a diplomatic maneuver to deny Russia the ability to justify its massing of troops on the Ukrainian border.
