As much as this is difficult to accept, I have a very real feeling that we haven't seen the worst of Covid yet.

I hope I'm wrong!

I don't think we will be doing lockdowns again anywhere in the US unless we see a situation that is playing out in Brazil.

Which means, we are going to accept a lot more deaths from covid than anything we have experienced so far.

Not good!

The mortality will largely be a segment of the population that needs culled. It is God's way. Those who choose to stay on top of this...those who still wear masks...maintain respectable social distances...those that get vaccinated and booster shots as they come available, have little to fear.

Infectious diseases, especially minor ones like covid, are a reality of existing as a complex organism on this planet.

Carry on.....or don't. :)

580,000+ dead in the US alone in one year. More dead than in the Vietnam, WW1 and WW2 combined. Calling it minor only shows your stupidity and highlights the segment of the population where the majority of future mortality from this disease will be centered. Furthermore, one-third of all those that had this disease are suffering from long-term neurological symptoms. This doesn't even account for the increase in blood clots being seen.

We've been doing lockdowns for over a year now, and it hasn't really worked. But with more and more people getting vaccinated, the pandemic will either burn itself out or be limited largely to the unvaccinated segment of the population.

Keep in mind that the influenza epidemic of 1919 lasted a shorter amount of time than Covid already has and it went away WITHOUT vaccines.

So...basically...enough of the doom and gloom. We've been at this for over a year now. Get your vaccinations, stay safe, masked and distant until you are able to do so, then after getting the vaccine, you (and the rest of us) will be fine.

That's a nice apples and oranges comparison.

Why don't you do the numbers on major pandemics like Yersinia pestis, smallpox or the flu and get back to me after you're done feeling silly. :D

Unlikely,

1) had it and it didn't phase me.

2) vaccinated.

3) I'm relatively young and healthy.

And it actually highlights that I did my homework on pandemics throughout history and what the future likely holds.

And compared to the big boi pandemics, covid is in fact a rather mild disease.

Furthermore, one-third of all those that had this disease are suffering from long-term neurological symptoms. This doesn't even account for the increase in blood clots being seen.

And?? Doesn't change the facts...... 0.13% of the population dying is NOT a serious pandemic, but a mild one. About as mild as it gets.

You're 35 and have been on government disability for about six years. That's not "healthy" by the generally accepted usage of the term. :cathappy:

I'm 35? News to me.

Disability?? About six years?

Your sense of time is beyond fucked.

Considering how off base you are....you clearly have no fucking clue what your talking about.

You should stick to racial slurs and racial identity politics.

I remember Rob's bullshit from years ago. It was all ad hominem then, and he hasn't changed one iota.

If people don't wear masks...no lock down was ever going to work. Traitors don't care if others die. They don't care about anything but themselves. Look at other countries that do care...they minimized the mortality and effects. It isn't doom and gloom to tell the truth.

Getting my Pfizer second shot Tuesday. Taking Wednesday off as a personal day.

Probably a good idea. I had a fever and chills on the night after the second shot (mine was in the morning, so 15-18 hours later), and my arm was pretty sore even a day after that (I still had the fever too, but without the chills).

Covid might be here to stay, but with the vaccine(s) and the fact that it's no longer a novel virus, I don't expect it's going to be disrupting daily life anymore. Variants are a concern, but there's only so much variation you can have with something as small as a virus and still have it to where it can infect people. A lot of the mutations arising independently around the world are similar to one another, which suggests that it's only so adaptable.

Got mine weeks ago.....must suck to live in a 2nd rate shit hole. :D

As a "permanently disabled" person on the government dole I would assume you got priority as part of the "high risk" demographic. I have no issue with that... hopefully your caregiver got priority as well.

I too am all for the mentally disabled and physically disabled getting the shot before me.

Thumbs up to this! I agree that variations of the virus will likely continue to circulate just as the common cold and influenza continue to circulate. There was a time, perhaps, when these viruses were newly introduced and probably far more deadly than today as there was little resistence to them. But what I hope is, that "The Powers That Be" don't use the excuse of "new Covid variants" to implement endless lockdowns, cancellations of all public events, and bans on group settings from now until our great-grandkids are in retirement homes. Keep in mind that I supported these things at the outset, in the interest of public heath. But now that it's a year later, once everyone is able to get vaccinated who wants to be, then there should not be any more restrictive mandates- let people live their lives as they choose.

It's called a Pandemic people and it's BAD NEWS!

A pandemic is an epidemic occurring on a scale that crosses international boundaries, usually affecting people on a worldwide scale. A disease or condition is not a pandemic merely because it is widespread or kills many people; it must also be infectious.

And it will not be the last one either!

Is the coronavirus pandemic is a sign of the end times prophesied in the Bible’s Book of Revelation?

By itself... NO. The crazy shit will continue...

Taken with the events of the last 20-30 years ...possibly.

And why not? We asked for it, Begged for it ...Fought for it (voted for it) and did everything imaginable to hasten it.

Is it in Gods good time?

I don't know but would not be surprised.

You really have no idea how C&P at the VA works much less taxes apparently.

And no, after all the high risk and compromised veterans and the care givers got theirs our local clinic had some extra doses and had decided to start giving them to the lower risk vets they day before.

I just happened to be there that morning.

Just the right place at the right time to benefit from a micro-surplus.

And if Donald Trump's golf cart hadn't been blocking the White House for the first year of the pandemic, a big chunk of those nearly 600,000 people who are now dead from Covid, probably wouldn't be. Anyone at the head of the government who wasn't an incompetent, narcissistic pig (therefore, Donald Trump) would have put this country in a better position on the pandemic than we now are in.

And you have been one of the pig's supporters.

Yeah.

The Virus paid about as much attention to Trump as it does Biden.
