An admittedly petty milestone

This post won't mean much to people who have only been here for a few years, but for those who have been here since around 2015 and before, will get the significance.

Today my story That's What Friends Are For moved up to #18 on the all time favorite story list. The story it supplanted was "Ohh, Mommy I groaned" by Scouries.

Again the older crowd knows the history with him and that story and the similar "Oh daddy" which he blew up using countless alts and manipulating the old searches by using the " " around the title to make it show up first.

But the site stopped that and those stories no longer get the attention they never deserved.

But Scouries didn't go down without a fight. As mine slowly grew closer his had little movement. Three weeks ago when I got within 10 suddenly he was getting the same number I was, keeping us 10 apart until two days ago when it looks like he lost a few. Maybe the site glitches or the favs were removed for being suspicious.

The best thing about passing him, and seeing his stories and his ranking on the all time author list slide, is my story isn't in the vaunted I/T category that he wrote all but exclusively in and touted as being unsurpassed in numbers.

if you can believe it my story is a First time romance.

The story came out in 2014 won first in the last Earth Day contest and for the last seven years has continued to surprise me with its epic numbers, far and away my most successful story in all but score.

I had two goals left here, both personal grudges. This was one, there's one left I won't mention even when I accomplish it. This is a public middle finger to Scouries and I'm sure a few here will understand why it matters.

I put Scouries on Ignore during my first week in AH, sometime around the middle of 2014. Out of sight, out of mind, no stupid flashing lights. Why pay attention to a fool?

Has he even been around of late?

Ah, I have him on ignore, no wonder I haven't seen him around, anywhere.

LOL and congrats!

As obnoxious as scouries was he was also kind of amusing with his “highest sales records on lit” and such.

He updated his page at the end of last year, but hasn't had a story posted since around 2012 or so. Yet somehow he keeps accumulating numbers.

Be interesting to see how many votes he loses once they get the glitch figured out

Yes, he was getting paid royalties! That's really why no one liked him.

I found him funny once in awhile until I was shown fragments of the dead baby thread, after that him and Freddie(Boston fiction writer, Susanjill parker and all their other alts) were no longer funny.

Certainly worth celebrating :)

It's kind of like beating the record of a roided-out athlete. Conquering his digitally enhanced numbers with natural accumulation is something that deserves acknowledgement.

I remember Scouries et al.

They abused Lit's systems unashamedly.

I am sooooooo happy for the newbies. This was an ugly, nasty and frustrating place back then.
We lost a lot of great people. Too many to name but I will throw out that I miss Michick a lot.
Still bumpy, but much, much better now.
Congrats LC!

Wow! I haven't thought of her in a long time. She did some of the editing for my first novel, Tales of the Circle back in 2012.

I miss Pennlady, although she left for health issues, at least that's what she said.

Another person from around that time was lettersfromtatiana...I'm probably spelling that wrong, but I imagine people know who I mean.

I was very privileged to edit several of her stories. She was such a passionate and honest person. Loved her.

Lettersfromtatiana I forgot about her. Another good one.

Penn still pops up here and there. Yeah, scouries and crew didn't drive her off.

Bad apples aside there were/are a lot of great people and writers here.

This sounds super petty AF....and I'm here for it.
I'm new here, so I missed all of the drama, but it sounds like "good riddance to bad trash".
Your story got my read and vote!

I think one of the biggest losses for not just the AH, but even bigger for the BDSM forums was Stella Omega.

We didn't always agree, but I had mad respect for her, she shot straight and she knew her shit. I think she bailed here first, but remained in the BDSM threads, then something happened and she left completely.

She had great insights into writing and life in general, had some cool stories from her youth as well.

Things were promised to Stella and then retracted and denied. That's all I can say without getting called a troll again.

I'm aware that was at least part of the reason, but I thought there was more, maybe not.

Silly Stella being told she was wrong when she had screenshots as proof, then still told she was wrong.

Guess she was the troll.

I say again, that was such a frustrating period for many reasons. Hell, both slave_ and I bailed for a while.

On many levels it was so very unnecessary, but c'est la vie

slave_ shamelessly flirted with Stella nonstop - it was hysterical.

I like Stella just fine, but towards the end of her time here she was struggling...and pushing pretty hard for changes to the AH that seemed important to her but not so much for others. Don’t really recall what Tx and LC are referring to.

I do recall Recidiva rewriting her post history on the GB. That was something to see.

I do. She was clearly given permission to coordinate collection of opinions on an issue here and did so for about two years with just about everyone who posted agreeing with the change she was advocating (and which I've advocated ever since here without result). And then she was thrown under the bus--and not even by a post to the board/thread she was running, by permission, for nearly two years--but by a preemptive false, slap-down denial elsewhere on the discussion board. This issue was very much integrated into her lifestyle/world view, so it's understandable that it was devastating to her. It's OK/it's their site. Nothing a bit noble or professional (or decent) about it, however.
