Favorite cocktails or mixed drinks

I've always been a simple man. I like my coffee black and my booze straight. In fact until recently I can count the number of times I've ordered a cocktail on two hands.

Lately, however, I've been reading about bartendering, watching videos about it out of boredom. Few of the concoctions appealed to me. Then I heard about Black Russians and I had to try one the next time I went out. While I still like straight shots I have found I do like like this drink.

What is your favorite mixed drink or cocktail and why?

its sometimes unavoidable if someone happens to fall in love with a different race. One should try to find someone of their own race first, if none are available then they can look around.

Martinis. Just three things -- gin, vermouth and the wisdom not to screw it up. If I feel like showing off, I'll make a Pegu Club or a Moonlight. My wife's favorite is a Manhattan made with rye and Carpano Antica although the last few years she's discovered my grandpa's humble go-to -- the bourbon highball. Bottled-in-bond and Canada Dry ginger ale -- no muss, no fuss and pretty close to perfection!

My former father in law was chief of surgery at montreal general and had marks etched in special shot glasses at their home and lake house to make exactly the same (perfect) rye and ginger every single time.
