I saw her footprints

I saw her footprints in the snow. Fresh and crisp after the night's blizzard. What I think was a fox (but could be a small dog, sometimes it's hard to tell in snow this deep), a deer, a hare and just now my own (much larger) dog had used the trail besides her, in that order and neither chasing any other. A squirrel had dug after the nuts under the bushes nearby just as peacefully, but now ranted at me from high above in the young spruce trees for not moving along swiftly enough and spreading rumors I'm reading trail of the other human to the entire forest.

Said smallish human wasn't followed the deer either. She knew the trail with confidence and determination only seen in humans and only twice missing the icy frozen sky track mostly invisible under the fresh snow drifts. Once, she had then to lean against a tree to shake snow out of her short boot. As fun as it was to envision her going trough the groove accompanied by the animals goddess like, it wasn't the likely case either.

She had went straight to the overlook on the outcrop above river valley, sat on the branches of the old Cup Pine (we called it so for the form of her branches and lack of a central point) and had a snack there. She had lost a piece a mandarin peel. Lost, or intentionally left behind for me to find? However unlikely it could be for her to litter, it was what somehow convinced me it must have been her. I didn't knew she's back from Thailand, but who else it ever could be?

Would she come back to watch the year's most massive show, the ice jams drifting? Would I ever once again see footprints of her bare feet in the wet sand on the water edge?

From here she went forth, downstream into the meadows. That's a hellish mile to wade through snow out to the closest road that direction, even if she goes up the hill and over the century old trenches. On my wide hunting skies (old and heavy but still thrusty) I could easily chase her down if she's still out there somewhere. She could be, it couldn't been too long. Should I go? Just to make sure she's safe? Her feet will be wet before she gets out.

As log as the small human is eighteen... I sense a foot fetish story coming on.

Wasn't intended so, but yeah, it sounds leaning that way, lol. As to age, I thought there's a couple of hints she's from a long enough before, but well, that alone indeed doesn't necessarily guarantee anything.
