I live in the northeast of the US and have been aware of trump for decades. I'm always thought that he was a gaping asshole. Someone in real-time tried to argue that he loves the US. I think that they must have been referring to the stupid stunt he pulled of hugging the flag. None of the trumpists have been able to name one instance before his campagn that demonstrated his love of country.

i first became aware of (t-word) in the 70's. his father's real estate company bought a housing project in a neighborhood of cincinnati. (t-word) was sent here to rework the place for resale...which he did by evicting all of the long-term (mainly black) residents. i knew several families who were displaced including one elderly black lady who had lived there for 35 years. he, in the meantime, moved into a luxury condo in town while he was here. he evicted the tenants, did a half-assed renovation and resold the buildings. a couple of years later they were in horrible shape and crime ridden, the community had been destroyed.
he was an asshole then. he's an even bigger asshole now. i didn't like him then, i like him even less now. he'll never be anything other than an asshole, hopefully a dead asshole as soon as possible.

could never bear to watch him on the american version of 'the apprentice', and everything i saw or heard of him supports the op. the only thing that changed when he got power was his ability to influence even more easily deceived, ignorant, or nasty people to support him.
i'm pretty sure most cogent, decent people (even if they identify as republicans) saw him for what he was and what he still is... a truly awful human being who has now managed to surround himself with many many others
