I didn't see the "progressive left" marching on Hasbro companies calling for this. Sounds like a business decision made by a company. That would mean capitalism dictated this.

"Mr" is rarely used, because they decided formal terms didn't appeal to children. It's all lurid, bright colours, adults who shout overenthusiastically, and done in bursts designed to create a three second attention span.

I find this whole thing to be just another attempt by a company to market to certain demographics and to get their woke/sjw brownie points.
The toy itself has no gender. Kids can make the toys into whatever gender they want based upon the parts they attach, it has ALWAYS been that way and I'm sure kids have made same sex potato head families for decades.
It's another example of how companies reduce their target audience's value to just their gender/skin color/sexuality.

Most of the companies doing these rebranding aren't doing it because they actually care about consumers or causes; they just want to make sure the Twit-Wits don't try to cancel them but they hide that behind "diversity and inclusivity".
Had they just changed the packaging, most people probably wouldn't have noticed or cared. But as usual, a company has to make a statement to make sure the "right people" hear it so the company can say "hey, look at us, we're progressive".
