Offensive content warning added to The Muppet Show

You seem to have a lot of angst in your life. Perhaps you need to incorporated more Buddhist philosophy in your daily routine.

The really sad part of this story is that those who would govern us for our own moral benefit
can never be sated and will never be satisfied for it is not the censoring they relish,
but rather the power to be the cultural judge, jury and executioner
of the prevailing morality. It's ironic that we hated it when
it was Christian culture doing it, but celebrate
when it's a secular-political morality.

"It's for the children."

Most children are simply not equipped to discern the "sexual"
nature of things that comes so easily to the modern moralist.

It's a warning. Nobody is taking it away, nobody is forcing you to agree to any ideology, and nobody is calling cps on you for letting your child own a Kermit pez dispenser.

Talk about snowflakes

The snowflakes are the ones who felt it needed a warning
not the people who find it extremely ridiculous...
They are the sane ones.

Green VS Pink

I think that the filthy racism that is the hallmark of the Muppet Show is largely a Pink and Green issue. They make it seem like Green frogs are wimps. At the same time they always make it appear that Pink Pigs are larger than frogs.

No way would I let my kids be brainwashed by this filth.

Thing is, I've never seen or heard any outraged demands that it be given trigger warnings. Definitely not on here. But, if I think on it, I can see how miss piggy could upset a child who had a violent mother, and I definitely remember me and my sisters imitating it. So, while I'd be fine with letting my kids (when they weren't adults) watch it, I can see why it'd be helpful for others to have a heads up.

And that's as much space as it occupied in my mind. I'll ignore it the same way I ignore epilepsy, peanut, and foul language warnings every day of my life. And I won't even notice doing it.

It's just an extension of the genre "cartoons."

Have you ever seen a cartoon?
We grew up on them and it didn't make us exceptionally violent.
(Not like all of the shows based on us kicking the shit out of the Germans. ;) ;) )

Even children can tell the difference between Tom and Jerry and Daddy beats Mom...

PS - Not to mention all of the wanton killing and ass kicking of the Indians, er, uh, Native Americans
on prime time broadcast television and the drive-in movies.

PPS - We glorified the graphic killing of everything German during that time too.

Do you think that led to Vietnam???

;) ;) :p

I think that if it's not depriving or damaging a kid, it's a matter of parental choice. I chose not to have a TV at all when I had kids. That's not an attack on parents who have a TV, or an accusation that tv causes psychopathy, ADHD and veganism. That's just one parent deciding what their kids consume.

Warner Bros don't need defending from parents who decide not to show bugs bunny cartoons at home.

In the uk, we have various film classifications. U, PG, 13, 18, etc.
The difference between U and PG (which stands for parental guidance) is just a heads up that it's maybe not akl sunshine and kittens, but it should be fine for your average kid. Nobody judges anyone for taking a 3yo to a PG movie, it's just a bit of extra help. It's been that way for decades.

I don't see any difference. Why is it a drama?

Luckily, for most Americans, it isn't.

Mainly the Trumper types (such as the ones represented on Lit) go into instant "anti-pc mode" any time they see a challenge, change or warning applied to something involving racial stereotypes. They not only want to be able to freely depict ethnic minorities as inferior, but strive for that to be the norm again.

For them, this isn't about Piggy karate-chopping Kermit. Which, personally, I'm a fan of.
