I know it's a Canadian thing...

the government is requiring travellers (or some travellers) entering the country to stay in a special "isolation hotel" to quarantine. the idea is they stay in their room, food is left outside their doors, 15 minutes a day of socially distanced exercise, etc.

But surely some enterprising souls will find ways to hook up...

Sure, it's risky and 'taboo'. And there's some erotic imagery protentional in scrunching up a face mask and revealing one's mouth.

This could lead to an entire industry of antibody-positive escorts who will come to your room for the night to help pass the lonely time.

To explore this a bit further

While not a government thing per se, special services could be offered by the hotel with the double benefit of padding the bill further but also having a more comfortable stay for the guest.

Since no one would want to break quarantine a menu of services could be offered to the guest who'd want an more enjoyable stay.

For the kinkier set, a masseuse wearing full latex body suit, respirator with face shield could be arranged to provide - relief.

And then why stay at this? A secret government registry and protocol might exist - after all those servants of the people have their needs! A gold standard list of sex workers who both received inoculation as well as already survived a bout of COVID. Pricey but well worth it for the really wary.

A silver list of those who have yet to receive their jabs but did have COVID and live to tell the tale.

And the bargain basement bronze level. Those who got both shots (after of course being 'sponsored' - er paid the requisite bribe - to the proper bureaucratic potentate) and are eager to relieve the suffering of their fellow. I was about to say citizens then realized what a wonderful inducement for attractive individuals from less fortunate places of the world to emigrate? Fellow human beings.

Any traveler arriving at certain jurisdictions (not necessarily Canadian) is immediately shoved into quarantine with that day's other newcomers. Let's have a tall Q-hotel where each fortnight's group moves down a floor each day. Newbies enjoy views from the 14th floor but escape two weeks later from the ground floor.

Meanwhile, what is there to do in isolation? TV and vids; online and board games; music on the provided piano and guitars; and lots of sex. Early arrivals Devised orgy gameboards and all the rest benefit. No tentacles needed.

Rumour was last year that one of the major outbreaks of Covid was caused by a security guard at a hotel being rather friendly with many of the quarantined people and taking it back home and out into the community :)

That was in Melbourne.

Can't help with story ideas, but I was in a managed isolation hotel for 14 days upon returning to NZ from OZ, and it did occur to me as I observed people in the smoking area that given the relative boredom of the situation there was definite potential, especially among younger people most likely, to hook up.

Not sure of the degree to which our movements were monitored by CCTV, but I assume they were because CCTV is generally used as one means to investigate possible ways of transference of covid when it has happened.

The rumour of the sexy security guard was in Melbourne, but as far as I know there was never a reliable source for it, just some guy who called in to talkback radio and claimed he heard it from a friend.

Media loves a scapegoat though, especially a scapegoat who who can't sue them because he doesn't exist!

Lots of people hook up where there is CCTV. There could be frame story of security guards watching the video, getting so turned on they tear each other's clothing off.

Damn, every time, with horror, I remember this time. I perfectly understand those who wanted to "get laid" because people just hesitated from prohibitions and such a limited life. It's kind of a challenge to all the rules. I'm so glad this is finally over, and we can go on a normal vacation. I'm just looking at Victor Harbor Holiday Houses for our upcoming vacation. I want to finally have a normal vacation, not worry that some problems may arise, and the vacation can be covered with a copper basin.
I'm looking forward to vacation.
