Like a lot of folks it looks like I am going to be stuck indoors for a few days and so my normal means of distraction are not available. Lit used to be a refuge for me and I have enjoyed it immensely...thinking this weekend might rekindle some of that :)

The last few months have been a blur with a lot of "real" life nonsense preventing me from making connections, having a good time, etc. I would like to change that.

Obviously if you look at my profile and my posts, I have been around a long, long time. I've had my share of personal ads and found some wonderful people to enjoy. For whatever reasons those folks have moved on and I find myself looking again.

Basically I enjoy talking, chatting, forming a connection and, if we're lucky, pulling a little bit of pleasure from wherever we can.

Generally I enjoy chatting with women who have a good head on their shoulders, are able to converse (i.e. add more to the chat than LOL, Yes, Uh huh, etc.), and are not painfully shy about what it is they want.

I hold no expectations of what will happen, or should happen, and I do not "kiss and tell". I have no interest in gossip on who is with who, or what is going on. Mostly I just like to see where we can go, wherever that might be.

Many chatting services are available, but I don't mind the art of the PM either.

Giving this a shot. Maybe you should too. What is the worst that can happen? :cool:

The “art of the PM” - the modern era of letter writing.

So maybe it is a love letter, though I don't really think much of what happens on Lit is love letter worthy :cool:

Mostly I mean that one, two word reply, the excessive use of LOL, or haha, and the other crutches we use in our messenger society aren't going to do much in terms of actually providing a connection, or, even a distraction.

It has been my experience too many of us are looking for the other party to provide the story, to provide the impedance to reply. That a list of traits, cup sizes, generic likes, doesn't substitute for personality.

So, the "art" comes in weaving information with banter, genuine interest, and an honesty of what is going on.

I am not sure I am that good at it, but I am certainly willing to put into some effort so the juice is worth it.

Thank you for the good response to my question. However, it looks like the same expectation as wanting others to do something-- in a certain way.
99% of the personal ads I've read and 95% of the PMs I've received are about the same.

Well, when we try to fill up the bucket with holes in the bottom, the best is enjoy your act of filling it up. Remember once a guy posted an ad entitled "Pump Hard".

Perception is a funny thing. Generally we will find what it is we want to see.
 
With another day stuck inside I am still looking for a little bit of distraction, conversation, and the 'art' :cool:

It is snowing all day and last night I got to stand outside in the sleet while the fire alarms were blaring.

It might be a joy to talk to me this morning :cool:
