Trump praises and encourages acts of violence

Trump to Stepdown

The noble thing for President Trump to do is to step down. If any of his staff would have caused a riot that resulted in the death of innocent civilians, he would have asked for their resignation. It follows then he should ask no less of himself and resign. Allow VP Pence to take the presidency as it transitions to VP Biden.

This would show honor and possibly allow for his daughter or son to make a run in the future. As it stands, he nor any of his clan has a snowballs chance in hell of a future in US politics.

Do what is right and stepdown--Resign with honor POTUS?

With no winner in the 2020 race and votes still being counted in several battleground states, President Trump entered the East Room of the White House at 2:21 a.m. on Wednesday and asserted without evidence that the election was being taken from him by "a very sad group of people."

"As far as I am concerned," the president declared, "we already have won it."

The problem, of course, is that reality is indifferent to Trump's "concerns" -- and the evidence does not show that he's "already won" the race.

Indeed, the president's remarks featured one false claim after another. Trump said people were trying to "disenfranchise" his supporters, but he didn't say how, and the very idea is ridiculous. Trump listed a series of states that he claimed to be winning, none of which have been called, and some of which he may yet lose.

He equated counting votes with perpetrating a "fraud." He suggested vote-counting should continue, but only in states he thinks he might win. In states where he might lose, he wants the vote counting to stop immediately.

Trump is obviously laying the groundwork to incite his followers to violence when he loses.

Brace yourselves. This is going to get ugly.

Your post was very prescient.

He did lay the groundwork to incite his followers to violence, and it did get ugly.

Yeah, that was a very irresponsible thing to do; very much akin to screaming “FIRE!” in a crowded theater. I hope that he is charged for inciting violence if any of his goon squads actually starts shooting people. I would hope that might be the final straw that would peel away substantial chunks of his remains defenders in the Republican Party. He remains a substantial threat to our national security so long as he keeps spouting that kind of shit, time to start holding him legally accountable for it.

For five long years, Trump has been inciting his followers to commit violent acts, however, Mitch McConnell, the right-wing media and the Republican Party have largely ignored this, or even made excuses for Trump and tried to make him sound innocent.

It’s only now, that a Capitol Police Officer is dead, and the life of Republican Mike Pence was put at risk that Trump’s habit of inciting violence is finally being taken seriously by some Republicans.

Not all Republicans of course. We have right-wing extremists like Jim Jordan who insist on supporting Trump no matter HOW MANY people end up murdered by Trump’s supporters.

For years, Trump’s hate-filled rallies and his Twitter feed have been used to demonize African Americans, immigrants, Latinos, Muslims, Syrian refugees, Central American refugees and others. Trump has engaged in hatemongering and fearmongering.

Early on, Trump a crowd of his supporters, “I love the old days”, because they treated African Americans differently back then. He said, “You know what they used to do to guys like that when they were in a place like this? They’d be carried out on a stretcher, folks.”

That was back in 2016.

Racists have been eagerly listening to Trump for years, hearing him support their beliefs, and hearing him hate the same people they hate. They’ve felt validated and emboldened.

Hate crimes have surged nearly 20 percent during the years that Trump has been in office. And hate-motivated murders, largely committed by white supremacists, spiked to their highest number in 28 years.

As far back as 2015, Trump has been connected to documented acts of violence, with perpetrators claiming that he was even their inspiration. In fact, dozens of people enacted violence in Trump’s name in the years before the Capitol attack, according to a 2020 report from ABC News.

In 2016, a white man told officers “Donald Trump will fix them” while being arrested for threatening his Black neighbors with a knife. That same year, a Florida man threatened to burn down a house next to his because a Muslim family purchased it, claiming that Trump’s Muslim ban made it a reason for “concern.” Then there are the more widely known examples, like Cesar Sayoc, who mailed 16 pipe bombs to Democratic leaders and referred to Trump as a “surrogate father”; and the mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, in 2019 that left 23 dead, where the shooter’s manifesto parroted Trump’s rhetoric about immigrants.

In August, he defended a teenage supporter who shot three people at a Black Lives Matter protest. And at the first presidential debate of the 2020 election, the president shocked many viewers when he was given an opportunity to condemn white supremacists but refused.

Trump’s campaign rallies have always been incubation grounds for violence, sites where Trump spewed hate speech that encouraged physical harm against dissenters. And as president, he has used his platform to encourage violence against American citizens. He’s called black athletes, “Sons of bitches” and he’s told women of color to “go back” to their own country...even if they were born in the United States of America. He’s attacked women and children who fled violence in Central American and came here to apply for refuge. He’s incited hatred and violence against refugees, even if those refugees were infants, not even old enough yet to walk.

This was all judged as acceptable behavior by Mitch McConnell, Newsmax, the Wall Street Journal, Fox News Channel for YEARS! But Trump stirs up a crowd, gets them to storm the Capitol and put the lives of wealthy Republicans like Mike Pence at risk, and suddenly inciting violence isn’t acceptable anymore.

Strangely, even after Trump almost got Mike Pence killed, there are shitloads of Republicans who are STILL embracing Trump!!

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said Thursday that the Department of Defense “repeatedly denied” requests to authorize deployment of Maryland’s National Guard troops to help quell violence at the Capitol on Wednesday.

Federal authorities were not guarding the Capitol at the time of the attack, leaving the job to the Capitol Police, who were quickly overrun by the mob.

Donald Trump watched the Capitol Police getting overrun on television and cheered on the rioters. He told the rioters that they were "patriots" and that the loved them and that they were "special".

At least five people are now dead as a result of the violent thugs who attacked the U.S. Capitol.

Trump refused initial requests to send in the National Guard, with Vice President Mike Pence ultimately interfacing with Defense Department officials and giving the order to mobilize units.

In the wake of Trump's shameful behavior, Hogan, a Republican, has called for Trump’s removal.

So, here's a hypothetical for you.

Let's say that in the last days of Barack Obama's administration a massive mob of mostly black people had stormed the Capitol Building, furious that Mitch McConnell refused to allow Merrick Garland's nomination to the Supreme Court to even come up for a vote.

Let us say that President Obama had personally and publicly incited this mob and told them that he would be with them when they stormed the Capitol.

Let us say that this mob was armed and repeatedly made it clear they intended to kill Mitch McConnell for abdicating his advise and consent responsibilities by refusing to allow Merrick Garland's nomination to ever even be considered.

Let us also hypothetically say that during the assault on the Capitol President Obama repeatedly refused to call out the National Guard to expel the invading mob. And before it was all over, let us say that President Obama told the armed mob that they were "very special' and that he loved them.

Do you think that the Republicans would be calling for "bipartisanship" and saying that impeachment hearings against Obama would prevent the nation from healing?

Do you think that the Republicans would be claiming that it's unconstitutional to hold impeachment hearings after Obama's was no longer in office?

Also, do you think that Republicans would complain about security barriers and the presence of the National Guard in an effort to protect legislators from future armed mobs?

No.

Given your scenario do you think Democrats would be supporting Obama's impeachment, call BLM insurrectionist and terrorist?? MSNBC hosts calling for drone striking Americans for having the wrong political views???

Or do you think they would all call it another "mostly peaceful protest from the voice of the unheard" like they do every time BLM does a billion in damage and kills a few people or shoots some cops in Dallas. Like we see them do EVERY SINGLE TIME, no matter how foul or belligerent they get in their rioting or rhetoric.

Also, do you think they would be so comfortable if Trump had ordered the military to secure congress and the WH?? Or do you think they could call it a military coup!!! OBVIOUSLY there to threaten Democrat lawmakers and people of color!

?? We all know the answers you don't have to actually answer. ;)

More people were killed at the Capitol Terrorist Insurrection than at Benghazi and you fools still bring that up even though 10 Congressional Hearings proved Hillary wasn't to blame.

Do you think that the terrorist who was shot in her neck and killed wasn't a terrorist? Not an insurrectionist? Not anti-American? Because she was all of those things in spades.

In the situation you describe, the Republican leadership would most assuredly NOT have called for healing or bipartisanship or forgiveness. They would have demanded that President Obama be arrested THAT VERY DAY and EXECUTED IMMEDIATELY!

Also, it's likely they would have tried to accuse other high ranking Democrats of being accomplices, even if there was no evidence that they were involved in any way. They're always looking for excuses to attack Hillary Clinton. They would likely have tried to accuse her of being involved somehow.

Also, even if none of the armed people who stormed the Capitol were members of Black Lives Matter, the Republicans likely would have clamed that black people storming the Capitol was somehow proof that BLM is a terrorist organization and they'd submit legislation to criminalize membership in Black Lives Matter, so they could send federal agents out to arrest everyone who was ever a member of BLM.

That's a fairly specific accusation. Surely you've got a cite for where BLM did "a billion in damage" and "killed a few people". (I am aware of the Dallas incident. That was one guy and the police killed him.) I've said it before and I'll say it again, BoBo: the reason why we don't see the media decrying the widespread violence and looting from BLM and Antifa is because it only exists in your fevered imagination.

2.3 mil is pretty close to a billion. Lol

Try including the rest of the city.

Then do the national damage report....(D)umbshit BLM, cutting their own noses off LOL

What a bunch of fucking retards, no wonder they're all so fuckin' poor.

Trump's attempted insurrection and a growing wave of right-wing extremism constitute a national emergency that should be responded to accordingly by the country's leaders and law enforcement.

A new poll from the American Enterprise Institute shows that 40 percent of Republicans believe it may be necessary to use violence to resolve political disputes in America. As a practical matter this means that if Republicans do not get what they want through "democratic" procedures, they now perceive violence as a legitimate means of achieving their goals.

Well then....maybe (D)'s should consider not trying to force their communist bullshit on half the country and the majority of states that don't want it??

Maybe you guys should keep your commie bullshit in YOUR states???

And if your "progress" is so wonderful then how come you don't do it in your state and lead the way by example??

Come on CA/NY...show us the wonders of a no-ID needed HC for anyone who shows up with their hands out because it's a human right!!! DO IT! Show us how wonderful a 50% state income tax rate works. :D

Just a thought.

Maybe Republicans should think that armed revolution is no way to preserve American democracy?

Donald Trump has been served with a civil rights lawsuit that accuses him of inciting the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection.

Attorneys for Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) and the NAACP formally served the lawsuit, which was filed in February, to the former president at his Mar-A-Lago club, reported The Daily Beast.

"Donald Trump has to go away," Thompson said last month. "If he doesn't, we will put him out of business."

The suit alleges that Trump incited the riot at the U.S. Capitol with his false claims about a "stolen" election, which the complaint says amounted to a conspiracy under the 1871 "Klan Act" to interfere with civil rights by stopping the certification of Joe Biden's Electoral College win.

The complaint names Trump, along with his attorney Rudy Giuliani, the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers, as defendants.
