Hate Comments

Because you're putting them in LW. Goes with the territory there.

There, but have the backbone to deal with the negative comments. Or turn comments off.

There can also be an issue of readers understanding the author's culture.

Then, where should I put cheating wives stories?

I'm not sure if the category where you posted a cheating wife story would make a lot of difference, but you could try "Erotic Couplings" or make one of your characters a different race and put it in "Interracial".

I suspect that any story who's description mentions 'cheating wife' would likely draw some of the same trolls that bash stories in the LW category, but maybe not.

Hey, you're not related to Brandi (Brandt) are you?

:: grins ::

Look at the bright side. One of your stories was the favorite of twenty-eight people, another of twelve readers. Your newest one already has five. They outnumber the detractors; some people do like your stuff even if they don't pontificate about it.

One of your detractors is a guy who seems to spend his life complaining about Loving Wives stories, although he never writes anything himself. So don't take it personally; as the Corleones would put it, "it's just business."

Thanks a lot for the encouraging words.

If a comment upsets an author enough for them to come to the board to complain about it, I think that's justification enough just to delete it and move on. We're not making the effort to post stories here to provide haters a platform to razz on us, and the site gives the author the power to delete.

Because people suck. You can ignore it, or you can delete it, whatever works best for you.

But what has been read can't be unread so you'll have to accept the fact you're going to get them, and try not to let them upset you, especially if you're writing in the home of cold male insecurity and haters of women called loving wives.

It comes with the territory, but there's plenty of good territory here too.

Not sure if it always has to do with having backbone. I turned off comments for my entries not because the negative comments hurt my feelings, but because I don't want to give the trolls a platform to spew nonconstructive negativity.

Every author's situation is different, but in my case, I can live without comments good or bad. I don't write to get comments, I write because my wife and a few good friends enjoy reading the tales I've told them over the years. Especially my wife, who goes to town on me (in a very, very good way) every time she sees something I've written in "print". My stories are fictionalized and embellished versions of some real life situations during our "life in the community", so its nice to share.

Some authors want to become better writers and the comment section was likely meant to function as a venue to communicate constructive feedback. That is exactly how it should be. Unfortunately, the internet has bred a vile breed of anonymous assholes who never contribute anything but poison and ruin the experience. I don't aim to become a better writer, so comments do nothing for me. I'm just a dude that, at other's requests, write down some of what I whisper in the ears of those very close to me in very intimate settings.

Just my O. See my profile for an additional position on comments.

Cheers.
