Rep. Gomert And Clyde fined $5000.00 for refusing to go through metal detectors before entering the House building.

If it isn't acceptable to bring weapons into any court building across the United States, almost all schools(except a few in wackadoodle land where they have bear and aggressive possum issues)...

Why would it be acceptable in the House, Senate, White House.

Criminals cling tightly to their guns because they think alike.

I am not allowed to enter my local Federal Building without going through a metal detector, so why should Louie-Gomer-Pyle be allowed to do so?

Keep your goddamned guns out of our halls of government discourse. If you can't make your argument in the halls of Congress without the overt or implied threat of violence, get the fuck out.

I have a concealed carry license but if an establishment says no guns I leave mine in the truck, I don't bitch about it.

It's just like, "no shirt no service."

Reasonable attitude.

Unless the concerns about some shit going down are too much not to override such actions...

However, I would have to have some pretty clear evidence.

So says "Mr. Boy Scout".

Scared people need to carry guns.

Of course they do. And if they do it legally, I don't have a problem with it. The other side of that are those who go through life thinking that there is no danger around. It's called ignorance. And below is why scared people want to carry guns, because stupid people want to hurt or kill them.

If guys like this were running around my work place I would certainly consider carrying a gun. Just saying.

Precisely. There are those of us who do it by the law and those who don't. Those who don't need to be punished for their infraction and just because you are one of those who make the laws doesn't give you the right to ignore those laws. What's good for the goose is good for the goosee.

exactly... we can't even take a pen-knife into our local courthouse building, let alone a gun, and have to walk through metal detectors.

the thing is, why can't the capitol police refuse entry to the house floor (by force if necessary) to any refusing to go through the m.d's or attempt to carry arms onto the floor? these are armed police, no? if not... . You refuse to go through the barriers, you attempt to bring a weapon onto the house floor, you get banned from being ON the house floor. How many of their constituents would be happy with their representatives NOT doing the work they got elected by them to do?

We certainly cannot trust that all Congressional reps, Senators, and their staff members are both civil and non-violent. So, what you say makes sense, if we want our government to function without the immediate threat of violence in the halls of Congress and the Senate.

A friend from a remote area in California calls me almost every week and discusses politics. He is almost completely cut off from internet, but he came to the same conclusion as me regarding the Republican Party. It has become a Party that increasingly understands its lack of broad popular support, will do whatever it takes to undermine broad-participation democracy in America, and will use anger and the implied threat of violence to get its way and fire up its base.

Undermining faith in our election system and invoking implied threats of violence have become major platforms in the Republican Party, even before the elections take place. This is the set-up. That way, if they win, they drop the talk about rigged elections and claim a mandate, but if they lose, they have an angry mob ready to pounce.

Yeah, I'm fine with this... your being reasonable
