Had an online poker site do that to us - posted a 10 minute warning that said, "We will close forever in 10 minutes." We thought it was a joke, but then it was gone, and so was the money in people's accounts.

I had a erotica story site do that. It came up a couple of months later, but that taught me to multiple post my stories to more than one site.

An erotica distribution site did that as well, closing down without paying up on current books sales, and the owner swished off to Mexico.
