"No full withdrawal" of international troops from Afghanistan by May:

The troops were there for the last four years or didn't you notice?

And don't forget it was a republican administration that stepped our foot into that bear trap of a conflict in the first place.

Thanks to (D)umz....who not only cried and wailed every time we pulled out further.

Remember all the wailing about our allies and how we were fuckin' them?

Yea.

Trump wanted to get out of the middle east and "ORANGE MAN BAD~!!!" rage was so high the (D)'s all went all in on being the fuckin' world police war hawks.

And don't forget it was a republican administration that stepped our foot into that bear trap of a conflict in the first place.

And a republican admin that's made the only attempt to leave too.....much to the wails of pro war forever in the middle east Democrats.

More troops will be deployed to SW Asia by the end of the year.

trump had four fucking years to get them out. All troops are STILL where they were when trump took office.

And he did better than Obama did in 8.

Got most of them out, despite being fought the whole way by screeching pro-war forever Democrats like yourself. :)

Just like his bullshit wall. Three miles of "new" wall and eight miles of replacement wall... in four years. Obama turned back more illegal aliens than trump.

I am still waiting on trumps "beautiful health care plan."

Just like Mexico was going to pay for everything.

"If you don't believe me look it up."

You'd think after the first ten years of trying to reconcile the Afghan's conflicts we'd have gotten the idea that it was impossible, and just left.

Now as we approach the 20th year of the war I think it's time to worry about the terrorists at home.

There is NOTHING in Afghanistan except poppies. The men have Nothing to do but fight. If they have no invader to fight they fight amoung themselves. Fighting IS thier job. It is the way it has been for thousands of years and will be because there is nothing there.

If you're at a loss as to why Empire's love Afghanistan this might be an eye-opener for you.

Rare Earth Minerals in Afghanistan

Why fight over an impoverished nation with a remote location? Simple answer - Afghanistan is sitting on treasure troves of undeveloped or under-developed rare earth minerals.

Whoever controls those resources - controls the future. Whether that control is the usual, preferred American and Chinese style of "soft empire" or the Russian approach of "hard empire".

All the way back to Alexander the Great. He didn't conquer Afghanistan because he felt like it. He conquered it to loot it's minerals and fuel his war machine.

Supreme ignorance on display here....you really should research a topic like that more before you pop off with something so stupid. :D

Unless you want to talk about things that are not going to happen like pipelines etc. And if so what do I care. There is nothing there.... maybe a mine the US has been guarding for the Chinese... The bottom line is those people will kill you just because you are there.

The point is, there might be. It had been crossroads of trade routes for thousands of years (look up the gigantic Buddha statue Taliban blew up). Pipelines, roads... yeah, blue dreams right now. The riches of the mountains are more tangible and wouldn't go away. So many have sought to subjugate the locals not for some tantrums (well, not only) but for the importance of the spot on the global geopolitics chessboard. Someone will succeed, eventually. Who or how, or when, remain to be seen.

^

Right now... the Taliban are completely destroying what our tax dollars have put there. They are destroying paved roads, destroying cell towers, anything modern. You do not "educate" people like that and apparently you can not make them submit and many have tried.

Sure. But those aren't the only people's there. Prior to Soviet invasion a (mostly) sensible society actually existed. Although the country also suffers from arbitrary borders a bit (it was made in current form when Britain and Russian empires decided they do NOT want a land border).

Well the problem is we can do it, but we seem to have run aground politically to go hard enough to make it happen.

Which means we need to leave.

Trump tried....the establishment both R and D, say no.

The bottom line is those people will kill you just because you are there.

I know, I lived there for a couple years :D

Yes, let's give it back to AL Qaeda and the Taliban.

But who is going to scream the loudest when Americans are killed in a mass casualty event???

We know who.

I don't know about that. The Republicans have only won the popular vote in one of the past eight elections, and that one exception was directly because of 9/11.

Oh yeah you mean like pro-war forever democrat Lindsey Graham, right?

As it stands right now to my knowledge the only republicans on the right side of getting out of Afghanistan is Rand Paul. Trump talked about doing it, when he could just do it, and got talked out of it by those ever-loving pacifists his republican advisors and generals.

I did just do it, and the (D)'s screeched about abandoning our allies!!

Or did you already forget about that??

You mean D's like Liz Cheney? She may not have done alot of screeching about it, but I remember a shit-ton of concern trolling coming from her and other warhawk Republicans.

No I haven't forgotten about any of it.

Unlike you I'm not giving the forever warhawks in my party a pass either.

Liz Cheney the (R) who sides with and supports (D)'s while bashing (R)'s for everything non stop??

The RINO??

LOL

Yea her too, but not anywhere near the wails of woe from the (D)'s about the orange man and horrible he was for leaving our ALLIES the Kurds to fend for themselves!!

No I haven't forgotten about any of it.

I didn't give any warhawks any pass.

I'm just not giving Democrats one.

FFS, Liz Cheney is her father's daughter: a doctrinaire right-wing Republican. She voted with the Dems once, and that makes her a RINO? That kind of says it all...
