The first is kinda interesting. Researchers have found Covid markers in the Bats genome going back at least a million years. A form of biological warfare has been taking place where the bats mutate to fight against the virus and the virus then mutates to be able to infect the bats. My take on this is that this sucker is going to be around for a long, long, time vaccine or not.

Researchers have found multitudes of Covid mutants but three are of particular interest. The UK mutant, the Brazilian mutant, and the South African mutant. Of the three the South African variant is the most virulent. Researchers say the vaccine is still effective...............just not as effective.

Some researchers are now openly discussing getting Ms Kitty and Rover vaccinated against Covid. I do believe that you're going to see more discussion is scientific circles about this.

canine pets have had a 'regular' coronavirus vaccine for decades, but i believe -that- strain is for a gastro disease.

if pets can get this respiratory coronavirus, i hope they develop vaccines asap, so we can attempt to get past all this.

$100 Billion plus spent by Americans last year on their pets.

There are ~120 Countries with a GDP of less than $100 Billion...Ecuador, Slovakia, Kenya, Luxembourg, Costa Rica, Bulgaria, ..

So you're saying we should send them our pets?

So... in other words... we're going to be dealing with lockdowns, social isolation, no more weddings, family gatherings, school, concerts, church services, travel, parties, events- and nothing but loneliness, isolation, shattered economies, and broken dreams, FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES.

I'd rather just get the virus and die from it, than have to live in a world like that.

Yes, it will probably follow the same path that the 1918 pandemic virus did -- start exchanging genes with the other viruses that infect us and thereby become part of our normal annual flu virus background. The 1918 one didn't become a continual pandemic, and I don't expect this one will either.

What I do expect, is that people will continue to be afraid of it for years to come.

I trust science but I don't trust big pharma. They will turn this into a recurring revenue stream and have everyone afraid of not getting an annual covid shot.

The newest UK developed vaccine has proved effective against the UK and South African variants.

That's good news Ogg. But the emboldened part is an indication of what's going to be happening going forward. A biological arms race.

Those who developed the existing vaccines are working on tweaks to tackle variants. What is great is that so many countries are working on it and there have only been a few failures so far. (The French are pissed because theirs didn't work!).

Edited for PS: The Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccine is being produced and sold on a non-profit basis to make it available to poor countries (and the UK government is funding its distribution in Africa for example).

The problem is that this isn't like the annual flu. The mutations are occurring at an astonishing rate. The implication being that the vaccine developers will always be working after the fact, unlike the std. flu where they are able to anticipate the variant and produce vaccines ahead of time. Yes, they get it wrong from time to time but overall their track record is impressive.

There are more pandemics on the way

The reasons for the 1918 pandemic is that men were traveling from one part of the world to another as they returned from killing one another during World War One.

Now the whole world is linked all the time. International travel is the norm. So a virus anywhere can quickly become a virus everywhere. There is no doubt that many deadly pandemics are on the horizon. The fact that this pandemic was used as a political club shows that human greed will overpower human intellect in addressing the problem.

Pandemics ruin economies and lead to starvation. These factors also trigger wars.

So there will be more pandemics. Far worse than this test run. With evil governments like the filth in China we can be sure that some of these pandemics will be just as man-made as the so called Covid-19 (Wuhan) virus. That will lead to major disruption of food production. The grid will go down. So the USA will not be able to make the interest payments of the national dept.

Do you really think that sleepy Joe will be up to the task? Dream on!
