Deplorables moan as Biden re-commits to Harriet Tubman on $20 bill

That's quite a gesture from a man who gave a eulogy at a former Klansman's funeral.

Ahhh but don’t Christians believe in forgiveness
And
Rebirth!??

Have you repented your sins yet?

Oh wait... Russian .., no soul .. no religion

Thurmond turned many decades ago.

Your fellow Deplorable white supremacists tried to destroy our democracy 19 days ago.

You don't come close to winning this one.

What will the racists use instead of a $20 bill? Why...if they carry that in their pocket and get caught by their buds...they might get hung

We will have to send all the Jacksons down south...and keep the new bills up north

Strom Thurmond was guilty of many terrible things, but he was never a member of the Klan.

The pathetic thing is, I know who and what Funit was really thinking of. The righties can't even keep their propaganda straight anymore!

I think this is digging up the old chestnut against Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia, who died in 2010, with Biden giving a eulogy, and who was a KKK member in the 1940s but started renouncing the KKK as early as his first run for the Senate in 1952. He ultimately became a celebrated champion of Civil Rights legislation. "In the end, the political legacy of Robert Byrd went from admitting his former membership in the Ku Klux Klan to winning the accolades of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). The group rated the senator's voting record as being 100% in line with their positions during the 2003-2004 congressional session." (quote from the cited article)

Biden's support was, of course, built on Byrd's renunciation of the KKK and eventual sponsor of civil rights legislation, not in support of the KKK. This Funit post is a typical reliance on the lie by the board Trumpettes.

Well, there's your mistake. Right-wingers always believe history stopped in 1964.

My mistake. Is Funit referring to Robert Byrd, as I posted, or Strom Thurmond, as you thought? And is your Strom Thurmond reference indexed to 1964 any less?

I was initially thinking he was confusing Biden with Obama, but it turns out they both spoke at Byrd's funeral. Biden also spoke at Thurmond's funeral, having been a close personal friend.

As for Thurmond and 1964, the real Kool Aid drinkers will tell you he switched parties that year in protest against the Democrats' supposed failure to support the Civil Rights Act (the truth is the exact opposite, as illustrated by the fact that Ol' Strom voted against it, but that will just get you a bunch of LALALALALACAN'THEARYOU!.

No, they don't, if anything this is a projection about how you and other Woke-O- Haram members like to pretend NOTHING happened in 1963/64 and things are more racist today than they've EVER been. Another tired old lie...

The only thing anyone is moaning about is the loss of spending power of the $20 thanks to government management...

You are a fucking idiot.
Deporable.

Any trumptards that don't want their nasty new Twenty send them to me.

They can hoard the old Jackson's just like they hoard ammo. I hear storing money under mattresses is a great idea

Twenties are for spending. Hundreds are for stashing under the mattress.

In a largely cashless society these gestures are becoming increasingly meaningless.

So many good things happening. :)

Hopefully the idiotic right wingers will start posting tik tok videos of them burning their $20s.

I mean, they were stupid enough to post evidence of themselves inside the Capitol. :D

It is not a big thing but I am not a fan. Keep the money as a place for dead presidents. I like the tradition.

Want to be real about it? Get Stacy Abrams elected president in 2028 and put her on the $20. She would be a great replacement for old Andrew Indian-killer.

“It has emerged throughout my life to haunt and embarrass me and has taught me in a very graphic way what one major mistake can do to one's life, career, and reputation. Paradoxically, it was that same extraordinarily foolish mistake which led me into politics in the first place.” Robert Byrd, former member of U.S. Congress from 1953 to 2010 and a member and organizer within the KKK until 1975.

"I was wrongly led to believe the Klan defended the American way of life against race mixers and communists". Robert Byrd Gee... sounds like he admits he was deceived by today's alt-right fascist narrative.
"I was sorely afflicted with tunnel vision — a jejune and immature outlook — like so many other Americans today, seeing only what I wanted to see - and because I thought the Klan could provide an outlet for my talents to achieve my political ambitions. I know now I was wrong. Intolerance has no place in America. I apologized for a thousand times ... and I don't mind apologizing over and over again. I can't erase what happened." Robert Byrd

After renouncing the KKK, Byrd publicly fought against racism and all forms of segregation. Byrd also later called his support of the Vietnam war a mistake... thinking he was fighting communism... and Byrd was an outspoken opponent of the Iraq War.

Sounds to me like Biden, as a good human being, recognized Byrd's apologies which Byrd also proved through his deeds for the rest of his life. Today's alt right fascist republicans should perhaps heed Byrd's words instead of trying to use his early mistakes to slander others.

Did you not happen to mention Byrd's denouncement of the KKK because the alt-right media didn't happen to mention it to you? Or did you not mention Byrd's KKK denouncement because you're only interested in slandering Biden through a purposeful lie of omission?
