Hank Aaron dead

The real home run king, the one that did it without juicing and against a long list of hall of fame pitchers.

Wrists and forearms forged from steel.

seriously. he had a shortish swing, a lot of his power was from the lower part of his arms. Jim Rice was like that, he once cracked a bat with the force of a check swing.

I've always found it interesting that golfers have to have absolute quiet to hit a ball that's not moving and baseball players are expected to hit a ball coming at them at 90+ mph, moving all over the place and 40K+ people screaming their lungs out.

a millimeter or 2 off the mark and the ball does not go out of the park. just amazing athletes.

He made it to a day he needed to.

I would guess he needed to know, no more knees on black necks. There's a chance to move above that now/ again.

I'm just a dumb white kid from an unimportant town in California but... Hank Aaron meant as much to me as any other less excellent ball player. He was the best there is. And all of us knew that. There was no dispute.

Like some who came before him, he also knew grace.

This is how and why we move forward.

FORTY six... and 2

-Also had a friend in high school, real bright guy - who had a way of being ignorant about his own diminished race. He liked to laugh at it, push it away.

He showed me one time, this letter some white PoS had written Hank Aaron. It began:

"Dear Nigger Henry," and went on to threaten Hank Aaron in ways you just can't stomach. For being black. And playing baseball. How dare he.

My friend thought it was super funny. I thought it was alarmingly impossible.

And then he said, "There's so much you're so fucking stupid about, MY NAME."
Or something like that.

And he was right.

In threes.

  • Lasorda
  • Sutton
  • Aaron

All this week!

Aaron was a better player than Sutton was a pitcher, but they were similar in that both of them basically put up the same numbers for 20 straight years. Just amazing durability and consistency.

Another legend lost!

May he rest in eternal peace!:rose:

The evils he faced from those trashy racist barbarians for breaking records was disgusting.

Hank Aaron was my first favorite baseball player. Seaver too

RIP Hammerin Hank

Henry Aaron was and still is the Home Run King, the greatest that ever was. I don't and never will recognize any home run records set by that Steroid King, Barry Bonds. He was a fake and a cheat. Hammerin' Hank was the real deal.

RIP Big Guy
