About 100 Presidential pardons expected Tuesday

If Charles Manson had lived, this could have been his big break.

Pardons for sale, pardons for sale. Git yer red hot pardons.

That’s actually a modest number, compared to other recent Presidents.

What type of crime can he pardon? I'm not sure of the titles but is it federal, state, local, tax...?

Breaking: Trump not expected to pardon kids or GOP lawmakers

That’s actually a modest number, compared to other recent Presidents.

As much as I hate Trump, I agree. Remember Clinton's departing pardons...the whole Denise Rich business, the pardon of former Arizona Republican Governor Fife Symington, who saved Bill Clinton's life when they were younger, the pardons for sale toward the end of Bubba's second term? I remember them quite well. I'm no fan of Trump by any means, but Clinton's pardons were awful.

And while it wasn't last-minute or large-scale, the elder Bush pardoning Caspar Weinberger for Iran-contra offenses was still god awful. Unforgivable for old HW.

He should pardon Julian Assange.

And Snowden. And Manning...and Reality Winner, just to make it fair and shock people.

But Trump has lost any touch he had. He's flailing and desperately doing whatever he can preserve his "legacy." Well, his legacy is forever tainted now. He's gonna be recalled as a shit stain on the Presidency.

Dumb hick prick Joe Exotic had a limo waiting for his pardon.

Didn't happen.

What a wonderful way to start Inauguration Day.

143 pardons just issued, including steve bannon and lil wayne but not family members or himself

That we know of.

Basically, any Republican who has ever been convicted on any sort of federal corruption charge has been given their get-out-of-jail-free card. One of the few things in Trump's favor is that he's always been pretty open about his belief that he and his friends ought to be permitted to break the law.

He's also rescinded the ban on former administration officials lobbying the government for at least five years, thereby disappointing the 6 or 7 people (tops) who ever took "drain the swamp" seriously.

She was pardoned by Obama

It was a commuted sentence, not a pardon. Manning did serve several years (rightfully in my view).

Wan't Manning pardoned already? Or commuted at least.

Commuted, but then re-jailed on citation of contempt of court to get her to testify against someone. She ran for the Senate in a Democratic primary in Maryland, which I didn't think that convicted felons could do, but I guess that I was wrong. She should still be pardoned completely, so the felony would be expunged from her record.

I disagree. I believe that she was a whistleblower and should not have been punished for it. Punishing whistleblowers when there is no effective legal channel to report atrocities discourages whistleblowing and makes it easier for the government to cover up said atrocities.

I was surprised today that Trump had pardoned a number of "life without parole" guys who'd gotten caught with a pound (!!!) of pot and were sentenced under the old "tough on drug kingpins" laws.
