the threats were valid only as much as they thought they'd be faced with insider help and orders for the capitol police to treat them with kid gloves. fucking cowards, the most of them. it would have never happened (the breach of the building and attacks on police/loss of lives) if there had been the proper amount of security the threats had required initially.

there may be some turn up with their guns; some may turn up unarmed intent only on vocal protest - their right. but the numbers who thought they had carte blanche to do as they please on the 6th have seen the armed forces, have seen the prosecutions and denunciations by the likes of mcconnell... their dreams of a coup have faded away and most will hide away at home, grumbling into their beards or bitching at their tvs.

The president wanted his departure from Washington to involve a "military-style sendoff and a crowd of supporters", a person who has discussed the matter with Trump, told CNN. Unfortunately for him though, the Pentagon will break tradition by refusing to engage in an armed forces farewell or throw him his requested military-style parade as he leaves the office. though it may be because he wanted it before (or to clash with) biden's inauguration, it may well be because the whitehouse is cordoned off along with the rest of the surrounding area around the dc capitol building.

to suddenly bring a load of people into that cordon--with who-knows-what radical elements in their midst that might suddenly be 'inspired' by rhetoric to attempt to breach the inauguration or make assassination attempts--isn't the best way to maintain tight security.
