We have a family-owned theater here that got a bit ingenious in an effort to stay open. You can rent a theater for $100 and pick from a couple new movies or some old movies (first time we saw 1989 Batman and second time Croods 2). They also created a little drive-in for about 15-20 cars. You just have to wear masks and only one group at a time allowed at the concession stand. Kind of cool.

But we are planning a trip to the beach. I miss the ocean.

get a GOOD tan before you go and learn to speak in normal conversational tones even in the loud places. The one thing they told me that they notice is that Americans talk louder than any other foreigners, and also, ..all my cousins down there are on the look out for light colored people with big wallets and big voices.

It should, but at his age, it definitely wouldn't be coming from him.

Bert has this oooooooold gripe about me once mentioning doing something everyone did back in the day when you could bounce to the local multiplex to check out something you wanted to see, usually during a matinee...then after watching that show, you go to the restroom, do your thing, then just walk into another adjacent theater to watch a new movie starting up. Sometimes if you were savvy enough, you could line up three on an off-day. If it wasn't a weekend, nobody cared. We called it doing "Sneakquels."

It's nothing new or exclusive. Just a soft hustle for when staying home to watch movies wasn't like it is now and going to the big screen for fare was incredibly fun to do. There used to be a time before Netflix and all that other shit. A social flow to entertainment viewing that connected the other things you did during a day or evening out.

When you could have a good day out to see a movie, solo or with folks...it hit different. I miss it. As much as I do enjoy being home watching things, if we can get back to that theater experience without fear, I'm never taking it for granted.
