Authors while leaving Literotica, deleting their account and stories. This is very fustrating. Readers fan of some stories and author suddenly removes it.

Literotica should impose strict policy to restrict author to remove there stories. Before publishing any story Literotica should take concent from author and after publishing restrict author from any deletion.

I have seen some authors publishing their stories on different sites for sale and then deleting stories from Literotica or deleting their whole account.

Let those that create control the destiny of their creations! Laurel has always been a champion of the author.

Go find some new wank material. Think of it as a butterfly that lands on your flower and then flies away.

The only policy is that if your story is a winner of a contest, Literotica asks that you leave it posted for a year after the contest.

Authors remove stories usually because a paid-for publisher insists that the same story should not be available anywhere else for anything.

But by then, it has probably been downloaded hundreds of times. :D

That would be 'sale'.

Now bugger off Yutz.

As an author, I should have the full right to take down any story that I post for whatever reason that I choose, unless a story was paid for by the site or in some manner was used by the site operators (ie, contest winner, published in a compilation novel, etc).

This. It's free-read site. That doesn't give the reader a say in or kick about what the authors choose to do with their stories.

what you said is true. Literotica providing free forum. But when author gets paid up publisher, forget the big platform and name and fame provided by Literotica.

Read the fine print. Authors grant LIT a non-exclusive right to publish works. Authors retain sole ownership of works and thus may delete them as desired.

Avid fans have a workaround but I won't reveal it since you're rather unpleasant. Ciao.

No way. Authors can do what they like with their content because they own it. Readers have no rights to demand anything like this.

You get what you pay for. Not being rude about it, but readers on Literotica read for free. If an author chooses to take their stories down for whatever reason, that’s their prerogative. I can understand reader frustration when that happens but, simply, too bad. The author owns the story, thats Literotica policy, and a fair one. I think your in a minority of one here.

^^^^ This.

Plus we (authors) don't get paid to publish here. So, there are plenty of sites that publish porn, go there. And the Author has the right even at Amazon and other pay sites to remove their work. It's mine, I get to do with it as I please if you don't like that, go somewhere else but, wait they have that same right there too.

I see this got moved from the GeeBee yesterday for some reason.

Sounds like a solution to your problem there. Buy the story and then you won't have to worry about the author pulling it.

Or do as many others do - right click and copy it to your hard drive when you see it.

Dude (or lady), here's two words for your idea:

FUCK NO

Literotica is among the few places which lets authors keep full rights to their works to do with as they see fit. If they want you to read their stories for free, hooray. If they want to sell them for some pocket change - it's not your decision to make.

If you're such a big fan, find your author on the interwebs again and give them some money for their hard work. It's easy to claim to be a "big fan" when you get shit for free, isn't it?

With all due respect, this idea is daft. Of course, authors should be able to remove their stories if they want to. The Site doesn't own them. It expressly recognizes the authors' ownership of their stories. There are all kinds of perfectly valid reasons that an author might want to take stories down from this Site.

If I knew that I would never be able to remove a story from this Site, I wouldn't publish here. No way, no how. A policy like that would be an extraordinary disincentive for an author to publish here in the first place.

Maybe there should be a prompt:

"Are you sure you want to delete your story? You will probably make some readers sad. [OK / Cancel]"

Because yes, I've been sad a few times too when a story disappears. But, you know, them's the breaks...

Simple. If I couldn't remove my stories?

I would NEVER post a story on Literotica and encourage everyone else to stay away from posting.

I'd think if someone liked a story that much they'd copy paste it into a word doc and keep it.

Also I'm sure that annoying wayback thing still has the stories somewhere.

I find it wrong when an author removes their work, and someone here is looking for it and some 'helpful' person has to point out the wayback machine rather than respect the person's wish to remove their material, many don't know about the WBM, and from what I hear its not easy to remove things from it

Far fewer people would post them here if they weren't able to own and control their work.
