'Thugs':

Trump resorts to name calling in first televised interview since losing election

November 29, 2020

President Donald Trump isn’t even listening to himself these days.

He tweeted on Saturday how Fox News daytime is “virtually unwatchable,
especially during the weekends. "(How many months, has Trump been advertising
media outlets that broadcast Trump's Alternative Universe version of events, that
have no connection to real events, at all ?)

Then, in the spirit of true hypocrisy, he gave Fox News his first televised interview
since he lost the election against President-elect Joe Biden 26 days ago on November 3.

In a phone interview on Sunday with host Maria Bartiromo, the soon-to-be-former
president used the opportunity to tote his usual baseless allegations of voter fraud.
He went from suggesting that the FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) are involved
in a conspiracy against him to alleging that dead people applied for mail-in ballots
and poll watchers were thrown out of counting rooms by “thugs” in Pennsylvania,
Georgia, Michigan, Arizona, Wisconsin, and Nevada.

Daily Kos

Trump's fans and followers are experienced in the lore of Trump's Alternative Universe.
It is considered to be a fun pastime for bored people to indulge in. Not so much fun, for
the families of murdered victims that are killed by dupes that buy into the brainwash aspect
of an imaginary world.

It ceases being an internet amusement, when real human blood is spilled, and a dead body
is buried.

I have wondered from the start how followers of trump think they have any credibility parroting the lies and absolute bull trump spews. I thought people were smarter than to listen to a dumb ass. I still don't know but now I don't care.

Rational people are exhausted from the Trump years. We never thought a mass psychosis of this scale could take place in America, but it has, and we will be dealing with the aftermath of this train wreck for years to come.

Trump's cult resents the the last gasps of America's original sin, enslavement of "other" humans.

What will they do when Trump is no longer around?
I know from the Obama years the the hate will remain, but
what will be the target; by necessity, it will have to be more 'generic.'

What will we do when the guy who insulted his way into office is evicted?

Celebrate.

A new proposed rule Health and Human Services (HHS) is rushing to finalize
that would force HHS staff—under Biden—to assess almost every HHS regulation
and determine whether it should be continued, amended, or rescinded.
If the assessment doesn't happen, the regulations automatically expire.
Which is why they call it-
“Securing Updated and Necessary Statutory Evaluations Timely”
(SUNSET).

( )

What this would do in practical terms, is pull legions of staff from running Medicare
and Medicaid and Obamacare and all the other programs—in the middle of a pandemic
when there are real emergencies.

Instead of working on COVID-19 pandemic, Trump's HHS is laying landmines for Biden

November 30, 2020

Daily Kos- Joan McCarter

HHS estimates that it would have to assess over 2,400 rules in the first two years
of implementation. The rule would also be costly, with HHS estimating that the
new review procedures would require 90 full-time staff, costing up to $26 million
over ten years, to implement.

If HHS could not dedicate the needed resources to conduct the assessments and
reviews, some rules might expire and cause major harm.

The expiration of Medicaid regulations, for example, could make it hard for states
to properly administer their Medicaid programs, potentially harming millions of
people.

The SUNSET rule is also unnecessary.

HHS already periodically reviews and updates its regulations.

Coupled with the “Good Guidance” proposed rule-
which targets HHS’ use of sub-regulatory guidance in administrating its programs,
the SUNSET rule would make it harder for the Biden Administration to effectively
administer HHS programs and respond to critical issues facing the nation.

Anything Trump establishes by executive order can easily be rescinded by Biden by executive order. All they need have done is to have kept a list of executive orders (and not count on the Trump people providing them with one).

"Taking some responsibility for your station in the world?" Is that your self-concept?

You got your government checks lined up, so it's fuck-you to the rest of the world. Don't let 'em take any of your gummint money! Let 'em know you got guns.

But, don't let 'em know you picked up your preadolescent attitude when Daddy ditched you. You're a perfect fit for a con artist like Trump. Cut from the same mold.

Dear Grandpa Joe Biden,

Please have The Resolute desk in the Oval office sanitized, perhaps re-finished.

Trump will pee on it, or have Mal-ania or Ivanka pee on it, at some point.

The Russians will have new tapes.

Please do not fuck the wife on it, until after the room is de-bugged.

Be very careful, on the Inaugural Platform.

Trump is very angry and resentful, that they built it outside of his bedroom window.

The noise is so loud, he moved to Camp David.

What makes you think the inaugural platform is built by the White House? Sort of silly.

The National Park Service, the agency that handles permitting for gatherings
on federal property, has issued a permit for the construction of the inaugural
facilities in Lafayette Square, which includes the reviewing stand where the
president watches the parade and a media riser. (North side of White house lawn)

to launch an investigation into it.

bodysong comment-

It seems that nearly all of the lawsuits that Trump used, in attempts to overturn election
results, had a glaring flaw, fuck-up, or mindnumbing mistake, or simple-minded, missing
information, or detail. Inappropriate, inapplicable, and just plain instantly dismissable.

Plausible deniability was built in- Trump's signature not on them, just the fact he was
in the race.

Were they deliberate mis-cues, insuring that nothing could be taken seriously ?
Huge headlines result from it, but there is nothing there, in reality. (False accusations,
false premises.)

The issues are certainly serious, enough. But, everything, else ? No substance.

There is no "Castle In the Clouds," as Trump's Alternate Universe proclaims.
It is just a normal, everyday cloud.

Trump could never win a prize for being the best at anything-
So, he set out to be the worst at everything.

He is still straining with great effort, at the very end, to win the title of The Worst American
President.

Presiderp Orange Trash Bag managed to produce a propaganda session so overtly partisan,
that some legitimate media and press have decided to prevent it from entering the newsfeed.
He bypassed them, by propping it upon Facebook. They are leaving it at Facebook.

It is not stopping the media and press from laughing at it.

The most petulant 46 minutes in American history

December 2, 2020

- Philip Bump

What the video wasn’t was a compelling argument for the idea that the 2020
presidential contest was somehow marred by fraud.

It was, almost literally, a distillation of the past four weeks of rants, allegations
and accusations, including countless examples of claims which have already been
soundly debunked.

"...there’s obviously something deeper and more psychological at play, a darker shadow
of refusal and frustration and fury that can’t as easily be countered with simple rationality."

For all of the reporting about how Trump understands that he lost the race and is
discussing a potential run in 2024, the speech released Wednesday did not convey
any calculated assessment of the situation. It was a cri de coeur that, given the season,
begs comparisons to the Festivus airing of grievances from George Costanza’s father
on “Seinfeld” — another older Queens man unable to gracefully accept the nature
of the world around him.

Introducing that comparison, though, risks diminishing the danger of Trump’s commentary.

Again, there wasn’t anything new to it. It was a pastiche of so much that we’ve heard
so often.

In the speech, Trump made vague demands that someone — anyone — intervene.

The essential question of the moment is how far Trump wants to go.

Was this his way of sulking?

Was the speech a lengthy vent, an airing of grievances without peer in American history?

Or was it a sign Trump will continue to want to push the understood boundaries of what
our electoral system allows?

The second most important question is whether his enthusiastic base of supporters
will recognize the difference between those two motivations.

These last weeks of the Trump Regime seem to be producing typhoons of crazy-

December 3, 2020

An unusual appearance by President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani,
before a House panel Wednesday turned into an even more unusual Lansing spectacle,
after Giuliani used his own testimony time to take over the hearing and question other
“witnesses” — without being under oath.

There was no testimony from Democrats or nonpartisan election experts at either hearing.

State Representative Darrin Camilleri (D-Brownstown Twp.) repeatedly asked for the
former New York mayor to be sworn in under oath. He was ruled out of order immediately.
House Rule 35 and MCL 4.85 both provide that all committee members have the unqualified
right to place any person who appears to testify under oath.

Committee Chair Matt Hall (R-Marshall), however, incorrectly insisted that
lawmakers don’t administer oaths and refused to do so.

State Rep. Cynthia Johnson (D-Detroit) was also twice ruled out of order after stating
that if witnesses are making such serious allegations of wrongdoing, they should be
under oath.

1) No testimony under oath.
2) No foundation laid for expertise or knowledge.
3) Only 1 party permitted to call witnesses.
4) No cross examination allowed.

This hearing is a state sponsored disinformation campaign
geared toward undermining our electoral system. Shameful.

— Dana Nessel (@dananessel) December 3, 2020

Clearly the only coup the Trump campaign was successful in was taking over
our state legislative committee.

This isn’t Four Seasons Landscaping.

What a ridiculous and shameful waste of taxpayer money.

Will we ever get a chance to ask questions or is Rudy now the chairman?

— Darrin Camilleri (@darrincamilleri) December 3, 2020

State Rep. Beau LaFave (R-Iron Mountain) asked Giuliani directly whether
he wants the state House and Senate “to hand the president the 16 electoral
votes for Michigan.”

Giuliani said that he never asked for lawmakers to do that, but to
“take back your power under Article Two, Section One clause”
of the U.S. Constitution — essentially asking lawmakers
in a roundabout way to break Michigan Election Law and
do just that.

Journalists have an idea about Trump's next move-

Trump said very clearly, that he could not return to real estate, because he would be very
bored, ordering windows. (It was most likely a Trump Lie, because he probably had
a minion for that. He learned the trade of grifting from his grandfather and father. Real
estate was just another vehicle for swindles.) He announced to his rally crowd, that he
"might have to leave the country, if he lost the election." Another lie ? The odor of Putin
is very strong, in all the actions that Trump has taken. PBS has been very insistent on
airing the path that insured the frightening ease, that Hitler had taken over Germany.

By now, there is much speculation.

Why Trump Can't Afford to Lose

JANE MAYER:
And, anyway, this is all what’s going on in terms of why, again, Trump may be fighting
so hard not to leave that White House.

MY GOODMAN:
And, of course, then there are some who speculate maybe he’ll hand over power
to Pence for a few minutes, either now or in the last hour of the presidency, so that
he could do the pardoning.

JANE MAYER:
That’s actually a scenario that is laid out as a possibility in this Justice Department
memo that dates back to the Watergate era, where the Justice Department suggested
a president shouldn’t probably pardon himself. It suggested a president might be able
to temporarily step down, under the 25th Amendment, have the vice president become
president temporarily, pardon the president, and then have the president step back up
and take over the powers of the office again. I mean, it would be an outrage, in many
ways, because it’s such a charade. But then, look at the charade we’re looking at right
now.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday denied a last-minute attempt by President Trump’s allies
to overturn the election results in Pennsylvania.

The court’s brief order provided no reasoning, nor did it note any dissenting votes.

It was the first request to delay or overturn the results of the presidential election
to reach the court.

The lawsuit was part of a blizzard of litigation and personal interventions -

Trump called the speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives twice
during the past week to make an extraordinary request for help reversing
his loss in the state.

But Speaker Bryan Cutler told the president he had no authority to step in,
or to order the Legislature into special session, a Cutler spokesman told
The Washington Post.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court said the challenge was filed too late — only after
the votes were cast and the results known. Democrat Joe Biden won the state
by a more than 80,000-vote margin.

Trump thought courts were key to winning. Judges disagreed

The judicial rulings that have rejected President Trump's unfounded claims
of widespread voter fraud have underscored not only the futility of the lame-
duck president's brazen attempt to sabotage the people's will but also the role
of the courts in checking his unprecedented efforts to stay in power.

Much like Trump, his lawyers try to blame the political leanings of the judge
after their legal arguments are flayed.

When a federal appeals panel in Philadelphia rejected Trump’s election challenge
just five days after it reached the court, Trump legal advisor Jenna Ellis called
their work a product of “the activist judicial machinery in Pennsylvania.”

But Trump appointed the judge who wrote the Nov. 27 opinion.

Tuesday's one-line order was issued with no noted dissents or comment from any
of the nine justices.

The court is made up of six conservative justices -- including Trump's three nominees --
Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett -- and three liberals.

The order marked Barrett's first vote on an election-related dispute.

The quick action with no public dissents (justices may choose whether to announce
their dissent) is a signal the Supreme Court may not want to get involved in the ongoing
Trump challenges, said Steve Vladeck, CNN Supreme Court analyst and University
of Texas Law professor.

"The fact that the justices issued a one-sentence order with no separate opinions
is a powerful sign that the court intends to stay out of election-related disputes,
and that it's going to leave things to the electoral process going forward," Vladeck
said. "It's hard to imagine a more quietly resounding rejection of these challenges
from this court," Vladeck added.
