If a family member of mine voted for him, it would be a way of saying my wife (a woman of color from a non-English speaking country) isn't welcome in America. It would also be saying all my Black friends deserve to live with the knowledge that they might well be murdered by the cops with no consequences, and that my GLBT friends don't deserve equal protection of the law. I would have no qualms about disowning them for that.

Well, you are entitled to your opinion, but the US is still a center nation and the fact is the Democrats lost ground even as they managed to vilify Trump out of office after four years, but in doing so, they damaged the brand. The rise of the "Progressives" in this districts that are SOLIDLY Blue will be a regressive thing to the Party in the long run. Furthermore, they will happily put Joe Biden and themselves between a rock and a hard place if they besiege him and insist that he pull to the Left legislatively. If they sit back and let him run to the center, then they lose credibility with their voters as not being the real deal but PINOs...
