2020 has been a shit year for most people. With Thanksgiving coming up, what’s something you are thankful for?

I started an awesome new job I loved in February. April 1, I lost my awesome job because of Covid. I spent my summer enjoying time with my kiddo. I was getting pretty bored though, so I decided to get my substitute teaching license. I took all trainings necessary and was looking forward to my first job. Then, I got hospitalized with Covid and a host of complications came with it. Stay with me... I’m getting to why I’m thankful.

This afternoon, I was figuring out how much I have in bills for at least the next month (hubs and I have separate accounts because I refuse to leave my bank). I was sitting on the couch hardcore stressing because I know I’m also facing a hellacious hospital bill (no insurance until January). I tell hubby my total and I got a, ā€œthat’s not bad, I thought it’d be a hell of a lot more than that!ā€ He wrote me a check to put money in my account.

I’m so thankful to be married to my guy and not in this alone. Yes, he annoys the piss out of me most days and can also be an ass but I always know I can count on him - and not just for money. Since I’ve been out of the hospital, he’s done all the cooking, all the cleaning, all the laundry all while working 60+ hrs a week while I work on building stamina and getting better.

I’m also thankful I was able to kick Covid right in the ass. It wanted to take me out, but I won. šŸ†

I’m thankful that I’ve worked from home for a couple of years already so there wasn’t an adjustment for me. Thankful my job is in healthcare and is needed rather than one that was eliminated. Thankful only one family member has had Covid (and shingles at the same time)....but he recovered. Thankful that everyone in my close circle has been careful.

You’re right...even though this year has sucked we can still find things to be thankful for.

:)

So awesome Shi...great to hear you've kicked every ass.:cool:

I'm thankful for:
friends that are genuinely great
family that aren't shit
music
art in all it's forms
keeping my head up
the fact that my dick still works even though I'm getting older
the fact that I usually forget that I'm getting older :p (yeah, I mentioned it twice, shut up)

More to come.

Well I’m damn sure glad to see you’re still alive NRJ

This makes me happy reading what your hubs is doing for you and that you're recovering from bought with the Covid virus. So yeah, I'll add that to my thankful list knowing that one of my friends is doing more than making do and is also happy.

I’m thankful that you made this thread. :rose:

It’s so easy to take shit for granted , saying thank you makes a difference. A huge difference. You did it , in writing no less , to a international audience , good for You :rose:

Adding to my list - I’m thankful for my kiddo. She’s walking, talking, living proof that miracles exist. After 5 yrs of infertility, I gave up hope. Three days before my appointment to start a new med I found out I was finally pregnant. Her dad and I are divorced now, and I cherish every second I get to have with her. Her laugh is everything. I’m super thankful I get to be her mom. ā¤ļø

I am thankful this year that I have another Thanksgiving to spend with my mom. She had a cardiac arrest and died in February for a couple minutes and the docs were able to bring her back. She drives me crazy sometimes, but I am super glad she is still with us and that we will be spending Thanksgiving together. Taking full advantage of her second chance.:heart:

My family and ones I love.
Good memories.
Someone who did me a kindness I'll never forget.
Being okay with letting go.

Being born a white male in the 20th century. Seriously...I’m not sure I would’ve been strong enough to make it if any of those three things hadn’t been true. I don’t know how Thomas Jefferson, Adele, or Oprah do/did it.

Shit seems hard enough, for me, as is.

Congrats on the Covid win, Shi

I'm grateful for small moments that still allow me to find a human connection in all that's going on. It seems like I'm working with Covid from 6:30am until well past sundown every single day and we're only ever "just ahead" of the curve. So many people have stepped up to help - despite their own fears - and it's just so humbling. I'm grateful that I fight very few battles alone in my life, even when it feels like I'm the sole participant in the fight.

Getting fucked in the shower.

Lol...you want to take pictures today...you get stretched wide first thing in the morning. Awesome.

Should be a great day. ;)

^ this made me smile. good human-ing.

Here I'm thankful just for the day.. and also that it's not a workday. There's a birthday in my family today and even though I'm not allowed to see them, I'm grateful that they're around and they're great.

Also I made some cake yesterday and I am damn thankful for that ;)

I am mainly thankful that my daughter found a good man. I am also thankful that despite all the upheavals in my life the past 2-3 years, I am the same, essential me, for better or worse. And that I somehow survived a drive through the Upper Midwest

Life blessings , grandkids , happiness, companionship, and my soul mate.
