The really sad thing is, this isn't even new. A decade ago, Rep. Bob Inglis and Sen. Robert Bennett were felled in GOP primaries, essentially because they didn't hate Obama enough. The Republicans have spent decades pushing their party's focus ever farther to the right without ever seeming to think of the consequences.
