What Are You Listening To Now? 6.0

I'd love to check out some of litfan's bands on his list. I've never heard of most (or any) of them but a lot of those sound really intriguing to me.

I've been on an Electric Wizard kick lately. They play really dark, heavy psychedelic rock, like a more tripped out, spaced out Black Sabbath on a ton of hallucinogens. I absolutely love this band.

Have you tried the latest Pallbearer yet? Not as psych as EW, but drawing from the same Sabbath/Vitus influences. Check this:

You'll find most of them on YouTube or Bandcamp. Those sites make it easy to "try before you buy".

Bandcamp is great, though it's SO easy to listen on Bandcamp, and click 1 button to drain your bank account - er - I mean buy the album :D

My collection is around 5,000 albums right now - and LitFan and BJ probably have similar collections.

I was lucky, though. I was a reviewer for a long time so bands and labels and PR companies used to send packs of 10 to 15 albums per week, unsolicited, wanting reviews and publicity.

Bent Knee : You Know What They Mean

Some of the best stuff to come out of the USA in a long time.

I have no idea how many albums I have. I had a huge vinyl collection that numbered in the thousands. When I was in college I gigged a lot and would use the band's pa system to dj on off days or between sets so I built up a huge collection.

Sadly about twenty years ago my basement flooded and I lost my entire collection. Some of my vinyl warped so badly they looked like salad bowls. My now ex wife felt the insurance money was better used in other things but I still have amassed a sizable collection again.

To protect it I digitalized everything onto a terabyte external hard drive then backed everything onto another terabyte external hard drive that I keep in a fire proof safe.

Yep, I learned my lesson.

Yep - I've done the same. I have my collection replicated on 4 separate hard drives, because hard drives DO die.

Atm, 'Dance of the Mountain King's Daughter', from Grieg's Peer Gynt.

And now 'The Pilgrim's Chorus'Tannhauser, probably my favourite Wagner.
