Mansour, born and raised in metro Detroit, MI, warned how Biden’s proposals to ban fracking as part of a broader strategy to “decarbonize the economy” could potentially destroy 160,000 energy sector jobs, decimate the auto industry, impede manufacturing operations, increase home heating expenses, and create California-style rolling blackouts in the state of Michigan.

Mansour said Biden’s proposal amounts to “basically eliminating an industry that accounts for about $1.3 trillion dollars worth of economic input into this country and an industry that accounts for about nearly seven or eight percent of our GDP. Joe Biden wants to sunset that industry.”

The fossil fuel industry supports 10.3 million jobs, produces $714 billion in labor income, and generates $1.3 trillion in economic output while accounting for 7.6 percent of U.S. GDP, according to the American Petroleum Institute, the oil and natural gas industry’s largest trade organization.

Not just that, they'd de-industrialize America. They are literally insane.

Breitbart? Why would anyone trust anything they publish? I personally don’t particularly care for sources that insult my intelligence by pushing false and misleading stories with such regularity.

A few years back, in pretty dire economic times, we shouldn’t forget that Obama and Biden saved the US auto industry from collapsing. Looking forward, Biden’s focus on modern and developing energy technologies is just common sense. Those are the jobs of tomorrow, and we are behind the curve. Breitbart can make up whatever they wish, but it doesn’t really change the realities we face; those in the energy sector have been positioning themselves for this transition for the last 15-20 years. Only an idiot would ignore the growing importance of renewable energy technologies.

The usual one sided crap from Brietbart, Consider the following.
Biden has not said he will ban fracking. He said he would not allow it on federal land. Forgive me for asking but doesn't that leave a helluva lot of land on which fracking is allowed.

Job losses in the automotive industry?
Won't the electric cars still have chassis, bodies and transmission systems? Of course they will, so the only jobs under threat are in engine manufacture.
Those cars will need new electric motors, no mention of the jobs created in producing them. Then of course there are the batteries, Oh boy will you need batteries. Will people not be employed producing them?

What's really sad for you guys is that the US were producing experimental electric cars thirty years ago but due to the kind of thinking in that article and pressure from the oil industry you threw away the chance to lead the technology. You did the same with wind power, the first one I ever saw was made by Boeing, Now Britain has thousands of them, all made by german and danish companies. The same thing happened with solar. The Chinese have got that market because the US was so obsessed with carbon based energy that they wouldn't invest. Time to get with the program guys or the world is going to pass you by.

So true. The last four years have put us even further behind. Evolve or die.
