NaNowriMo starts on 1st November.

It is a useful exercise to hone your writing skills and practise writing every day.

I have written a How-To and in 2003 I wrote Flawed Red Silk, the NaNoWriMo total with an additional challenge - to get every part edited and posted (given the then posting delays) before the end of the NaNoWriMo month.

My How-To - not 'complete' as in everything about NaNoWriMo, but How-To use NaNoWriMo.

Year 15 of NaNo coming up for me. Still haven't settled on what I'm writing, though. Have a few ideas. Maybe too many...

I'm tempted! I'm also tempted to try and knit a sweater in a month (NanKniSweMo!), but I don't think either are achievable for me this year.

By the way, you don't have to write just one story. The word count is what matters. The 1660 words per day.

The last year I did it, I did four short stories that ended up being closer to 60k than 50k. All are posted here on lit.

I have two almost complete novels done during NANO. I keep saying I'll get back to them one day.

It is great for getting in the habit of writing daily.

I had intended one year to make NaNoWriMo more interesting by writing a Lit story for every day of November - but not now.

My eyesight is so compromised that I doubt I can write enough in a day for the normal contest.

Sometimes when I'm walking these days, I'll open the dictating function on my phone.

I'll record ideas, passages, and even sometimes go off a tangent that I like. :)

Maybe this would help?

Happy weekend.

Happy weekend.

It would except that my voice recognition program doesn't recognise my voice. :(

I've started NaNo. I'm inconsistent with it but I've recently finished a different story so I hope that gives me some momentum.

I'm onboard!

I'm using it to write one of my romance books. My ... fifth (?) time in, maybe? Some months I get over 50K organically but it's always nice to have an external boost, no matter how slight.

I'm attempting it this year. Trying to get out of my comfort zone and do something different.

Whoever came up with this idea wasn’t Finnish. November is not a month to do anything but slowly die from the inside. Maybe if it was in April I could consider.

I think November is National Novel Writing Month here in the states so NaNo is just an extension of that.

Get out the happy lights or at least some flashing Christmas lights. Something cheery. Get you a screen saver of a Caribbean beach, minus the hurricanes of course.

I think this is the first year I'm not actively committing to NaNo...or at least telling myself I'm committing to it. Eh. 2020 has been exhausting, and as I'm now the mother of a tween, her energy is just another layer of exhausting on top of the regular exhaustiveness. On the other hand, it's almost the 12th anniversary of a particular Litster's death, so I may write a little here and there in her honor...
