What is the new icon in the hubs?

When I hover over it with my mouse in a desktop browser, it says lists. But what those are, how you are on it, I have no clue.

The icon is for lists. The list function allows you to tag a story that you haven't read yet and save it to read later. It's different from favorites, which are stories you've read and particularly like.

That distinction has been here for a while now. I don't think there's a function to automatically remove a story from a list once it's been read, so there's a subtle distinction between marking a story as "favorite" and bookmarking it.

The new hub shows promise. It looks clean, modern, and mobile-ready.

I would have thought there would be a search facility..?

No, but you can manually click to remove it from the list. I've just added a few stories to my read later list instead of having tabs open!
