Do you vote Republican, Democrat, or for the Best Candidate?

Who gets your vote?

How do you decide who you will vote for?

EDIT: This is a public poll.

In the past, I've gone for the best candidate--in my opinion--but this year it's all Republican, straight down the line.

The Democrats' behavior has been appalling to behold since Trump ran for, and became, President. I cannot bring myself to vote for a Democrat at the moment.

:)

The lesser of the evils.

There hasn't been anybody to vote FOR in longer than I can remember.

I usually vote for the most liberal candidates, this year that's straight up Republican.

(D)emocrats have gone fucking nuts.

which means i vote democrat.

the republicans should try not being evil sometime.

Does the Republican party have a presidential candidate in this election? I haven’t seen one.

Best candidate. Of course, since I believe the economy should work for all rather than just the rich and I believe a woman's body is her own and I believe health care is a right rather than a privilege and I understand that reasonable regulations are not a step towards communism, the best candidate from my point of view is almost always the Democratic one. But hey, if the Republicans ever ran someone whom I agreed with as opposed to someone who not only disagrees with everything I support but outright hates it, I would have no problem with voting Republican. I don't see it happening any time soon, but I try to keep an open mind.

Hope you'll forgive me if I can't imagine any circumstances whatsoever under which you would prefer a Democrat, unless it was someone like Zell Miller or Joe Lieberman.

I guess I'm mostly interested in hearing from those who don't always believe they're voting for "the best candidate," because that would be weird.

Believe as you like--it doesn't take much to argue for one side or the other and get a rise out of people--but there is also more than a President to Elect this November.

Some people vote along party lines, because, despite what they think of their candidates, they believe it will be the best thing for...wait for it...the party they are affiliated with.

The hope is that the Party will control the candidate even if the candidate is Hillary, Trump, or Biden.

:)

That's what Trump failed my expectations on. That he is a disaster for the world was clear as a day, but we still had hope. Not an American, and my politics doesn't abide by your traditional split, but for as far it relevant, "my" Republican senator was McCain. And with Tillerson in the cabinet I indeed expected quite a different story to unfold. That didn't last.

Same.

Perhaps you meant to say you were insane?

You don't live in Washington state, do ya? I'm not a Republican but... The Democrats are trampling our rights, letting the homeless and drug addicts take over, and defunding our police. Seattle is no longer a good place. People, who lost their jobs due to Covid did not get their unemployment because we are expected to believe that the money was sent to Nigerian scammers. Ah, but there is evidence that it was an inside job. So... I am fed up. I want to be able to speak my mind without fear of having my house burned down or otherwise destroyed.

Then you need to get on to reality and flush the Orange Turd and his minions that are doing the damage.

The Courts have been striking down those restrictions and mandates. THAT is the place to make a stand. Supporting hate and division is not.

^^ promote the most EVIL politics ever to be dreamed up by mankind, not to mention whole heartedly anti-American.

What damage?? You just keep saying that...yet you can't point to any.

Most of the damage has been done by (D)'s hissy fit over democracy not going their way.

The Courts have been striking down those restrictions and mandates. THAT is the place to make a stand. Supporting hate and division is not.

Yea...(D) restrictions and mandates because they're a bunch of anti-American shit stains.

What do you civil rights and freedom loathing (D)umbfucks not understand about that???:D

He's a disaster for leftist degenerates who are too lazy and or chicken shit to grab a gun and go rob other people themselves.

Yea that's how sad the left is, they can't even do their own robberies.

You have to remove the splinter before you can begin to heal the festering wound.

Why is it that the people who hate Trump and refused to accept him as President and not coming together and uniting as Americans cry so loudly that we have to get rid of him in the name of unity? One doesn't really seem to follow from the other as it seems that they are as equally vested in supporting hate and division as the President that they accuse. If it weren't for their unrelenting hate, he wouldn't be divisive, in fact, he might pass largely ignored. Nothing that he does affects my day-to-day life.

Exactly.

Because they don't want unity.

They fucking HATE anyone who doesn't toe their political line.....not a damn bit different than Mao's red guard.

What is particularly galling is the false claim that all of their hatred and feelings of division are because of President Trump. This is patently false, a President not of their party by any other name would be just as divisive in their eyes and opinions. In their opinion they were born booted and spurred, ready to ride [us]. Even if they had won the election, they would still hate, they would still not be inclusive and there is no way that they would want unity with that which they have come to despise and detest; sort of a one ring to bind them, one ring to rule them type of attitude.

As opposed to the respect and deference the Republicans invariably showed Obama and Clinton?

Pointing to the past to excuse the present? I do not recall it ever being this vitriolic.

I believe that. I really and truly believe you don't recall the Republicans ever being disrespectful of Clinton or Obama.

You know why I believe that? Because I think the venom simply didn't bother you back when you agreed with it.
