I've been more or less haunted by this story idea for a few months now. Even though I've never written anything before, it's getting to where I may have to try my hand if I don't find something similar.

The story is told from the point of view of a guy who has the potential to be a warlock but doesn't know it. He meets a woman who is a witch. What's more, she lives with her mother and daughter who are also witches in the classic triune of Crone, Mother and Maiden that witches are often depicted in. I also thought of her living with her mother and triplet daughters, alluding to both the Crone, Mother, Maiden triune as well as the equally classic "three weird sisters" trope.

My guy, let's call him Guy, which sucks but it's just a working name. is at work, wrapping things up at the end of a long week when he realizes there is a black cat sitting in the middle of his desk. The cat is wearing a collar and what he would have previously identified as a "dog tag". The tag identifies the cat as "Asmodeus", or something and has an address that Google maps tells him is a good thirty miles away in the woods outside of town.

Being a decent guy, he takes the surprisingly cooperative cat to his car and drives it to the address. It is a cottage with a large garden and maybe even a greenhouse attached right to the side.

He carries the cat to the door and knocks and the Mother figure of the triune answers, Brooke for now. She is about Guy's age and stunning. I'm picturing a redhead dressed in a vaguely hippy/bohemian style, ankle length gypsy skirt and a tank top or something.

She thanks and flirts with him. Something like calling Asmodeus a bad kitty as she accepts him from Guy, then looks Guy up and down before stage whispering "good kitty" and putting him down. She tells Guy that her mother and daughter(s) are out for the evening and she was making herself a late supper. Feeding him is the least she can do after he went out of his way to return her cat.

They have dinner during which he learns she is a witch, something he doesnt take very seriously at this point. He wonders how Asmodeus ("Azzie" as she refers to him) got so far from home and she alludes or hints that she sent him out to find someone special for her. Instead of elaborating, she gets up and either he stands or she sits in his lap and they kiss. She le as ds him up some stairs to an open loft that has a large bed where they make love ending Chapter One.

I figure Chapter Two begins with him waking up in bed naked with her next to him and her mother (the Crone, I'm thinking of Katey Sagal from Sons of Anarchy; a hot older biker chick who's still got it) and daughter(s) (Maiden and/or Weird Sisters, I am picturing 18 or 19 year old emo goth types; if there is three of them, the only physical difference is hair color (platinum blond, redhead, black)) standing in the loft. The Crone isn't happy but the Maiden wants to know if she can call him "Daddy".

This sounds very interesting, Love the idea of the mother looking like Katey Sagal.

A story of wyrd sisters needing magic ingredients sounds cool.
Is this going to be a CFNM story?

Git yer shit straight first .... Katy Sagal is from Married With Children and once played 'Death' in an episode:

She was killer in black too on a funeral episode:

As for the cat, it could be one of the daughters (some witches can switch forms) or even a dead relative (Great Gramama? ) reincarnated.

Your story idea seems to combine 'The Good Witch', 'Charmed' and 'Halloweentown' with a dash of 'Hocus Pocus' in a cauldron spiced up to Lit content.

you say that like it's a bad thing...

What about the cat being the reincarnation of the father of the triplets (who may or may not have been their 'Daddy' too)? He was a Warlock and is on a mission to find a new husband for his Widow wife and Father (Daddy) for the girls. Warlocks are sometimes considered immortal, so he must have done something unusual to be able to die.

I do have a weakness for cats in stories:

Possessed by a Witch (kinda sorta?)

Blame it on the Cat

Ella the Cat Burglar

Sir Tony Tames the Tigress (included just out of nostalgia and for fun)

though not sure this is in my wheelhouse. More one I'd want to read than write...

I was thinking of Katey Sagal during her time on SoA for two reasons, three if you count that I want the Crone to be a brunette. Her time on MWC was when she was in her 30s and 40s. I am specifically looking for a woman in her late 50s, early 60s who is still hot. I never really cared for the descriptions where a woman looks decades younger than she is as a description of beauty. Michelle Pfeiffer, Jane Fonda, or yeah, Katey Sagal have clearly had work done but they don't look like forty year olds and yet, I find them each very attractive.

Also, I want my Crone to be a mean old biker bitch. Crones are kind of the archetypes for the more wicked witches and I want her to have that attitude. I'm picturing a motorcycle with an airbrushed picture of a wicked witch on the chassis flying on a broomstick, with her middle finger raised.

The cat holding the resurrected spirit of Brooke's former warlock husband is a possibility but I wouldn't want Guy to know until near the end.

Guy's relationship with the cat is, oddly, kind of important. All the relationships are. I don't really want this to be a harem story where he just bangs/owns each woman one after another.

The cat is the only other male in the household as his life becomes a bit commandeered by these woman. As he comes to accept that magic is real, he realizes how intelligent the cat really is and they become buddies. For example, he moves into the cottage fairly quickly but they don't have a television so he sometimes streams shows on his phone which doesnt interest the witches but the cat will sit on his shoulder and watch with him.

If I can't come up with three different relationships for the three daughters, I'll leave it at one Maiden. Sometimes more isn't better, it's just more, you know?

I like that the relationships I'm picturing for each of them is sort of unique and not just different sex dolls in a harem.

His relationship with Brooke the Mother is intense and romantic. She is kind of the perfect wife material; nurturing, generous, loving, and amazing cook, the classic features of the maternal archetype.

The Crone doesn't trust him at first. She is protective of her daughter and granddaughter and doesn't see the need for this man at first, not seeing that they've been out of balance since the death of what I now think was her husband, not Brooke's. Because back in the day, she was the Mother and Brooke was the Maiden. Interesting, that adds another dimension to it and makes the possibility that Azzie is the reincarnation of her husband a bit deeper. She is a widow that doesnt want to betray the memory of her husband by taking up with a new man.

When she eventually has sex with Guy, it'll be confrontational, rough, almost violent. While she will come to love him, she will always challenge him, never fail to be a pain in the ass.

The Maiden on the other hand has grown up largely without a father figure and is very happy Guy is in the house. She is very sweet to her "daddy", bordering on submissive.

I'm picturing a lot of fun in the second and maybe third chapter as Guy starts seeing Brooke and is trying to deal with the strong attraction to the other two. He is a good guy and doesn't want to cheat, not realizing that the witches don't share his taboos and see the coven as a sort of gfoup marriage that he has been chosen to join.

It's also when he starts to discover that magic is real. He has little interest in going back to his empty apartment or the crappy microwave meals he had been living on so he spends a lot of time at the cottage. He ends up reading some beginning books that, for some reason, I see the Maiden picking out for him. The early stuff is meditation techniques and sort of influencing other people with your mind so even as he starts using magic, he is perceiving more as a "power of positive thinking" sort of way.

Charmed, Hocus Pocus. Yeah, the image of a trio of witches is classic and I won't deny that it's that imagry that got this thing started in my head.

PS
Okay, they need names:

Bryan Ferguson - Our guy
Brooke Ackles - the Mother
Delilah Ackles - the Crone
Kelsey Ackles - the Maiden

That just reinforces the concept of the two males as past and future father figures.

I think you're right. Plus I can already kind of picture the reveal. Brooke or Delilah and she mentions her father or husband and Bryan responds with something like "Wait, you named the cat after your (husband/father)?"

I've become attached to calling the cat Azzie but having a former warlock named Asmodeus is a bit on the nose. It could be that he is from an old, somewhat pretentious, magic using family but I may have to think of another name for the cat. Thoughts?

It does kind of fit what I was thinking about how the coven perpetuates itself.

Each mother is courted by a new warlock who marries into the coven. Eventually, he fathers a child with the maiden. The Mother becomes the new Crone, the Maiden becomes the new Mother, the Crone fades and becomes reincarnated into the new Maiden. When the Warlock dies, he reincarnates as the coven's Familiar and chooses the next Warlock. In the interest of not expecting Bryan to die within twenty years, we can say that the Warlock can serve during more than one cycle though that gets incestuous, which doesnt bother me too much.

Sounds like a great concept for a story. And you are already a better writer than most of the authors on this site. Go for it!

I like the idea of "casting" Katey Sagal as the Coven leader. Good call.

I think Sagal would also work as an archetype for the Madam of a brothel.

Well, as mentioned that guy could be ages and ages old before being killed/turned into a cat, and so having such a name is more probable, maybe.

Then alternatively, it could be the "magical" name, the one he assumed himself upon some kind of ritual, not his birth given name.
