It is pretty queer, isn't it? I mean, he was being quite vocal about matters political on the daily concerning anything throwing shade on Democrats and the Left, even when the "purge" happened.
Well, he did say he was pulling up his tent stakes in Cali and putting down roots in Idaho or wherever during the end of the year. Maybe he's still in his U-Haul taking the scenic route?

A shame though, this abrupt incommunicado. He found time to be here signifying his convictions every day, unless he personally announced a vacation, which he never missed doing in all the years I've seen him on the boards. Call him a bargain-basement Cal Ripken.
However, with the election of the century coming just around the bend, the man's vanishing act is no doubt concerning. His talking-point threads, earnest and hoping but now bereft of his participation and/or cheerleader bumping, went bunk, crashed into a cliffside like a charter plane piloted by Wile E. Coyote and are going the way of the Dodo bird. The vast fields of Right-eousness he tried to sow and champion are laying fallow, partially plowed with tractors rusting in the middle. Late-year weeds are starting to blossom one last time before the Reaper's scythe begins its inevitable winter swing, decay has started to set in before the encroaching crunch of icy ground cracks. Hate to see a fellow team homeboy go out with a whimper instead of a bang, you'd reckon.

Decay needs a semicolon in front of it, or you need to start a new sentence.
Comma after sow and after champion.
It's a bit purple, slightly cliché with the "scythe" "inevitable" "winter" "swing" but, no one is perfect.

I got through watching the movie a little earlier. I thought there would be more of this in it, but what they had was still hilarious.

Inconceivable.

Now, Scratch 'n Sniff likes to undermine people's post with his grammarian "knowledge." If you're going to dish it out, like your buddy, then you have to be able to take it as well.
And, if you're going to defend him, it seems a bit hypocritical of you to turn the other cheek when he does it.

It’s a very bleak story marked with sparse punctuation. One alone makes it a tough read; include both and it takes a bit of dedication to complete. But it is a thought-provoking book.

Feel free to let me know what I defended, other than your own point about the pettiness of correcting one’s grammar. Everyone slips up. We use our phones with tiny keyboards and ducking autocorrect (intentionally left as is). Our brains move faster than our fingers. Cleaver used to post in his own unique style. McCarthy’s lack of grammar made his writing no less profound - which was really my point.
I find “grammarians,” as you call them tedious and unoriginal, a minor step above those resorting to name calling or claiming they “own you” when they have run out of names. I actually hadn’t read “my buddy’s post” until you pulled out your proverbial red pen. I hope you can forgive any sentences in which I began two spaces after the period instead of one. Old habits die hard and I would hate to use up any of the precious red ink.
