i don't get into political debates with my elderly m-i-l; she was "explaining" to me that there's good and bad on both sides and she's torn between voting for trump or voting for biden, right before going on to "explain" how obama was trying to take aware medicare, medicaid, and social security, and biden tried to get america to go to war with china. *sighs* she gets a shit ton of trump mail telling her all this guff and--because it's in official-looking mailings she believes it all. trying to conteract those beliefs is a task too great for me. I just told her she must vote with what her heart and her head tells her. As a churchgoer, and even with watching trump on tv, seeing his behaviour, his responses, his disgusting human attributes, she still thinks it's a 50/50 toss up between trump and biden.
 
I figured trump would get more viewers just because people would tune in for the shit show.

And that AA woman planted over his left shoulder got a neck sprain nodding in support. Maybe she got paid by the nod.

President Donald Trump’s one-man town hall showed he’s “broke, broken and unmoored” as his re-election campaign hits rock bottom, according to former Republican strategist Rick Wilson.

The president backed out of a town hall debate with Joe Biden because the event was supposed to be virtual because of his COVID-19 infection, but he ended up taking part in a solo event moderated by NBC’s Savannah Guthrie while the former vice president held his own on ABC, Wilson wrote in a new column for The Daily Beast.

“Chicken Donald got what he asked for last night after ducking the presidential debate for what he’d expected to be the more amenable circumstance of a network town hall,” Wilson wrote, “and America saw him as he is, as Gurthrie opened up by pressing him on the key elements remaining in his base, white supremacists and QAnon maniacs, and Trump reeked of desperation not to further embarrass himself as he flailed to recapture his old media magic but instead dispelled once and for all the deeply-held belief that he cannot be bested by a reporter.”

“The desperation rolled off Trump in fetid waves, reminding voters in this closing stretch that he cannot learn. He cannot change,” Wilson wrote. “He cannot take and execute on good advice anything that could potentially help his campaign and his political future. [Last night] was another reminder that Donald Trump is always, and only, Donald Trump.
