Virus stalking NFL ahead of week five games

The NFL headed into week five of the 2020 season under a cloud of uncertainty as Covid-19 further disrupted a schedule already impacted by the first major outbreak of the disease.

After a relatively smooth start to the season, where league safety protocols appeared to be working, the coronavirus has struck back with a vengeance in the past fortnight with two teams suffering multiple infections.

The most serious outbreak has swept through the Tennessee Titans (3-0), who confirmed a 23rd positive case on Thursday, forcing Sunday’s fixture with the Buffalo Bills (4-0) to be shunted to Tuesday.

By Tuesday it will have been 16 days since the Titans have had a game.

At some point I think the league is either going to have to consider having teams forfeit, or delaying the season by a week for everyone.
