Not a morning person.

You're lucky if I form a coherent word within the 30 minutes after waking up.

I abhor mornings and am absolutely miserable until noon.

But... I am also peak effective from about 5-10am. I will throw things at you if you interrupt me with anything other than a coffee refill, but goddamn do I get stuff done.

I have business more or less daily in UK, USA and HK as well as OZ, so my routine fits in with that, so that I can Skype, Facetime or Zoom at convenient times. I get up at about 5.00 am work (at home) till about 10- 11 ish then walk and coffee break before a couple of hours more work; nap for about 2 hours between 1.30 and 6pm. Own time in the evening except for a few calls, then to bed at midnight - 1 am.

Routine works well but the nap is absolutely essential. :)

So what do you do that early?

Watch the sun rise.
Listen to the rain.
Have breakfast.
Work out.
Walk the dog.
Read.
Write.
Skip the arithmetic.

Mornings are a time of awakening. A time to look forward. A time to enjoy life. They are special because they are fleeting in time, yet there will be another tomorrow.

I did most of my effective work between 7 and noon. Left the bullshit stuff for the afternoon.

I love this!! I find that peace at night. When my kids were at home my favorite time of day was when everyone was safe in bed. Not that I didn't like to spend time with all of them in the day! lol. Life can be tough and I try to walk with them though it, but there is just something about the peace at the end of a hard day.:rose:

i used to be a morning person. i really did. when i was high school age i'd usually be up by 5am. and i worked for years at jobs that required me to get up and moving early. insomnia was a problem for me, too. then old age and health issues hit. nowadays i can't wait to take my bedtime meds and wash them down with a couple of black russians. i sleep like the dead and never want to get out of bed in the morning. or the afternoon, either, for that matter. if i could sleep without dreaming everything would be perfect.

The feel of the night is different than that of the morning.

The night is soft and comforting, almost warm, while you sit and quietly ponder the events of the day past. Good friends, good memories, good night.

Mornings are electrical. They are bright and energizing so you can look forward to the future. A time to make plans and to ready yourself for good times and make new memories to wonder over when life slows before you sleep.

So what do you do that early?

Drink coffee, watch the sun rise, just enjoy the start of a new day. Depending upon the season ( here in the summer the sun is up at 5am, while in the winter it doesn't rise until 8:30) I'll get some things done outside, etc, all before work.
