I never knew much about that quote, other than it was from Roosevelt, so I looked it up. It's from his inaugural speech in 1933, in the height of the great depression. The quote taken in context of the whole speech reflects a situation similar to that faced by the USA today.
The difference is that they had FDR to lead them out of it, it was FDR that made America great in the forst place. Withoput him I douybt the USA would have amounted to much at all.
Now, you have impeached President trump most likely to win the next election or if he fails, Biden. Neither a worthy successor to FDR, neither with the capability to pull the country out of its mess. The contrast between 1933 and now is phenomenal, it's hilarious. You couldn't write this shit. It's so funny,
