I wish I knew more about planetary stuff.

Why do planets spin?
Why do they go around the sun in the same direction?
Why are they on such a flat plane around the sun?

I am no expert matter of fact I am pretty ignorant of many things but I think...

It has something to do with how they are made and the magnetic and gravitational forces within in conjunction with the orbit around the sun.

Have you ever used anything like a boleadoras? Same thing happens when you twill them before throw .

I'm sure someone will be along to straighten my ass out shortly!

OK, not – not – an astrophysicist, but you got me interested. So, doing some layman’s research, what I get is this. Theories keep updating and some things get more or less stressed. One video which seemed both recent and comprehensible was an eight-minute Astrum video called ‘Why are all the planets on the same orbital plane?’ I might suggest that, rather than my trying to interpret it (and no doubt botch key parts), that you google that and have a look.

The key phrase seems to be ‘angular momentum’.

Basically because there's a molten core at the centre. Not all planets spin, btw, there's no law of physics that says they have to. But once they start spinning, inertia keeps them going.

The second two are related. When the sun first formed all the debris in the system formed what's called an accretion disc. The sun's gravity pulled it into a reasonably flat mass that slowly spun around the sun.

Just one big, cosmic accident. String enough "accidents" together and you have yourself a miracle. :)

I am always amazed we are spinning. I get sick on almost everything that spins.

The flat plane of orbits formed from the original spinning disk of gas and debris from previous solar systems that became our solar system. Orbits off the plane are captured objects that randomly went by and were caught by the sun's gravity.

you can google this stuff if you're really looking for answers or you can always go to the library and check out some books and read up on it.

Or if you're really interested, you can always take a class at a local community college to learn even more. Community colleges have been having online classes for a long, long time.

If you want to know then go learn and educate yourself

Youre like the GBs Captain Obvious. :)
