I recently wrote a fictional story using the very real life story of Lozen, who was an Apache medicine woman and brother to Victorio, as inspiration for my fictional character.

Lozen was an amazing person and rubbed elbows with many of the famous chieftains of her time, including Geronimo. Almost nothing is/was known of her other than her brilliance and abilities. She died tragically from tuberculosis after being imprisoned and was buried in a mass grave in 1889.

Sorry, it's not published anywhere.

Someday I might have someone publish it, but not right now. I've put too much up on here so far this year and haven't been doing anything commercial and I need to get back to that. Which I currently am doing; I'm writing a new mystery novel about pirate ships, smugglers, and a hot Navy officer determined to figure it all out. With the help of a certain pirate captain of course.

BTW, Dahteste's story is just as tragic as Lozen's, if not worse. Yet few know of either.

Lakes.

Not sure if it is still true but it one time Arizona had more boats per capita than any other state.
