Halloween contest 2020

I'm excited to participate. This will be my first submission to Literotica. My story is kind of vanilla, but I think I honored the spirit of the theme. It a fun PWP about a costume party and a case of mistaken identity.

I was working on a story about a guy who gets cucked by a slasher film villain. It was unintentionally kind of rapey, so I'm reworking it. I think the new idea is better anyway, but I won't get it done in time for the contest.

If I can finish in time, I'd like to submit a second story called "Life Lessons from the Zombie Apocalypse." Not sure if I can get it done in time for the contest though. I rewrite A LOT, so I'm not the most productive at times.

Anyway, I appreciate any support for my story. Since I'm a newbie to writing smut, I'm very open to feedback. It's fun to write, but harder than people think. I haven't developed a sense of the pacing yet, and that can be a challenge even in mainstream fiction.

Still plodding. Don’t have complete draft yet. Spending lots of time on ghost sex. Also on story. First-person story, so no first person pronouns available for this post. Intransitive verbs also in short supply. Ditto definite, indefinite articles.

Past 8k words. Maybe finishing around 12k. Maybe in two, three days. Unwritten scenes mostly boring stuff. Plodding to get worse. Need more ghost sex. And in story. Borax good at getting ectoplasm out of bedsheets.

Maybe three days for rewrite and edit. Submittal Oct. 8? By then hundred stories in contest? Need title to be grabber. Like “Lots of Ghost Sex.” Need teaser like “How to clean up after.” Or maybe “How to convince everyone that’s ectoplasm.”

I dropped my story, it looks good, 7,700 words and I think it's fine, though not ground-breaking.

And call me a nervous Nellie but I go and check the score because of course I do.

Ouch. It's early. I'm sure I got one-bombed because it's a competition? And they'll sweep the ones out, right?

There should be a function that if you pick "1" you have to put the reason why. If I suck, tell me that. Most of my stories hover between 4.4-4.7 so at least let me in on why you hated it.

My story posted today, in Humor & Satire. There seems to be no one there reading, and those who are reading are not voting, and those who a voting, oh boy

There's a story there in the "popular in the last 30 days" list with a score of 2.0 and with whopping 7 votes. I suppose I'm too used to posting in Romance, where the corresponding numbers are 4.85 and 234. And yes, I know, no need to bring Incest into this.

The one-bombers are definitely in the air. My story just dropped half a point. But, yes, the sweeps will clear them away.

The question of how to deter trolls and their bile has been often discussed. Yours is not a bad suggestion, but I doubt we're going to see much action. The sweeps are nice to watch, though.

I read it, and I thought it was pretty good, but H&S? Maybe you can ask for it to be moved to another category. I have my ideas, but spoilers...
