CDC director responds to Trump’s COVID-19 vaccine timeline.
President Donald Trump asserted that a vaccine could be weeks away,
but Dr. Robert Redfield said it’s likely one wouldn’t be broadly available until at least the summer of 2021.

As President Donald Trump continues to tout the progress of coronavirus vaccine development, going so far this week as to promise delivery to everyone in the U.S. by next spring, a majority of Americans report having no confidence at all in him to confirm the safety of a potential inoculation, according to a ABC News/Ipsos poll released Sunday.

Fewer than 1 in 10 (9%) Americans have a great deal of confidence in Trump to confirm vaccine effectiveness with another 18% reporting only a "good amount" of confidence in the poll conducted by Ipsos in partnership with ABC News using Ipsos' Knowledge Panel. In contrast, 69% don't have confidence in the president vouching for a vaccine, including 16% saying "not so much" and 53% saying "none at all."

On Friday, Trump told reporters at a press briefing that the White House "expect to have enough vaccines for every American by April," a statement contradicting administration health experts, including the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, who have pegged the delivery of such a vaccine to the second half of 2021.

Anyone who gives over their personal health to Donald Trump truly is an idiot worthy of what will happen to them.

Dr. trump paid someone to take his medical exam for him.

.

Just another "side effect" of Trump's anti-fact, anti-truth, anti-science presidency.

Even if the vaccine is safe and effective when it is finally released, Trump has instilled such a level of distrust in our institutions, that an adequate number of people required to promote herd immunity will resist getting the shot.

SAD!!!

No, that would be Bidumb who instilled distrust. Trump has nothing to do with the development and time of distribution or the efficacy of the vaccine. He has set up a distribution network and logistic support. You people aren't really that stupid: are you? Big Pharma quality control and the FDA are calling the shots not Bidumb or Trump. How quick we forget the H1N1 fiasco!!

Do you mean distrust in vaccines? Like bleach?

And please compare and contrast the H1N1 fiasco to to the trump virus response. TIA.

The H1N1 fiasco that destroyed the economy and tens of millions lost their jobs?

It's a scientific breakthrough.

There is NO way to know when one effective enough to make a real difference will be developed.

Once again use your fucking heads!

You weren’t one of those idiots Trump tricked into taking bleach, were you?

I will as soon as you can substantiate bidumb’s claim that reacting a week earlier would have saved 35,000 lives. I can contrast Sleepy Joe to Trump’s reaction, sleepy Joe would never have placed a travel ban and yet he claims he would have saved thousands of lives. LMFAO YA just can’t fix stupid or help people that choose to be willfully ignorant.

That’s because the progressive communist party was intent on shutting things down because communist are authoritarian, Trump will bring it back, we’re well on our way to full recovery. Don’t forget to wear your mask now.

Ok, do it.

LMFAO YA just can’t fix stupid or help people that choose to be willfully ignorant.

I know, right?

Biden isn't president. What does it matter what he WOULD have done? The White House coronavirus team said masks were essential to stopping covid. Yet trump says they are to make him look stupid. Guess what...lol

I've read several articles and found it extremely shallow and a political hack job by Biden who was outed by his own experts for fucking up H1N1 response, would hide behind articles and studies that were semi-published without peer review and based on models that really don't prove the numbers.

The *WHO* AND China sat on the transmissibility of the virus. *WHO* declared a global pandemic Mar 11th and Trump declared a national emergency on the 13th.

So, if you put your prognostication hat on and step into the *WAYBACK MACHINE* a response as early February could have avoided the disease altogether. So what date do you use. Having the advantage of moving up and down the space time continuum ( monday morning quarterbacking ) is quite different than making decisions based on nebulous and constantly changing scientific data sets, decisions that could destroy a whole economy as we know it. People who claimed to be in the know were not in the know, they were advising actions and responses based on intel and models that were all over the spectrum. Wearing a mask was good... then it was no good... then good again, the efficacy of wearing a mask was still unproven and the data at the time couldn't substantiate whether wearing one could produce unintended consequences and increase the spread while creating a false sense of security or telling everyone to get them creating panic buying leading to a global shortage.

What's not mentioned is the responses by Governors that put sick elderly in with other elderly causing thousands of needless deaths based on borderline criminal activity. Where do governors fit into the blame game. How many of those 36,000 death could have been avoided had governors like Cuomo used common sense practice and used the assets Trump provided.

Of course we entered the pandemic unprepared material wise because the super pandemic fighter and his boss left the cupboards bare.

Lots and lots of MONDAY MORNING QUARTERBACKING. Only a fool would believe Bidumb would have responded better. Sleepy Joe's only strong point is his expertise in plagiarism, he listed his response strategy which mirrored Trump's actual response almost to the letter.

Biden's pretty quick to chastise Trump while Pelosi, Biden, de-Blasio, Cantrell are egging their citizens to dance in the streets and throw caution to the wind. Pelosi was also more interested in the impeachment of Trump than taking heed of the oncoming storm.

I find it hypocritical that when Trump talked of a national mandate Governors balked at him!!! Proclaiming States rights, so Trump followed the constitution and relegated the degree of response to the governors. Biden called for a national mandate until someone told him that he didn't have that constitutional authority and that's even after he had 4 months to study what his role should be.

A more aggressive response using the measure of social distancing starting on March 8th instead of March 15th is grasping at the obvious. Social distancing our vulnerable elderly in nursing homes would have been a good start.

Sorry for the delay...

I read that Biden wasn't in charge of the H1N1 response.

The *WHO* AND China sat on the transmissibility of the virus. *WHO* declared a global pandemic Mar 11th and Trump declared a national emergency on the 13th.

The date I'd say to get the ball rolling would be in late January when he was told it was going to be a motherfucker and the toughest test of his administration.

He wasn't prepared after dismantling the pandemic response team and losing the playbook behind a filing cabinet and those could have informed decisions and directions. And MIT and some others had just wrapped up a pandemic study in December 2019 that concluded "uh oh" if they didn't get a jump on things.

trump was also warned by obama about the dangers of a pandemic, if I remember correctly.

People who claimed to be in the know were not in the know, they were advising actions and responses based on intel and models that were all over the spectrum. Wearing a mask was good... then it was no good... then good again, the efficacy of wearing a mask was still unproven and the data at the time couldn't substantiate whether wearing one could produce unintended consequences and increase the spread while creating a false sense of security or telling everyone to get them creating panic buying leading to a global shortage.

trump watched it roll across the world on the way here and chose for weeks to say it would just disappear like a miracle. Not the first coronovirus rodeo.

Yes, very unfortunate decisions were made out of desperation. That must have happened before the tents and ship arrived. Wouldn't make sense, otherwise

Of course we entered the pandemic unprepared material wise because the super pandemic fighter and his boss left the cupboards bare.

Fake news. It wasn't a full stockpile, but obama left it far from bare.

Lots and lots of MONDAY MORNING QUARTERBACKING. Only a fool would believe Bidumb would have responded better.

Not necessarily at all. He'd been through one at that level and knew the stakes far better than trump. He probably wouldn't have disbanded the pandemic response team, for one thing.

Biden's pretty quick to chastise Trump while Pelosi, Biden, de-Blasio, Cantrell are egging their citizens to dance in the streets and throw caution to the wind. Pelosi was also more interested in the impeachment of Trump than taking heed of the oncoming storm.

Were they as informed about it as trump was?

I find it hypocritical that when Trump talked of a national mandate Governors balked at him!!! Proclaiming States rights, so Trump followed the constitution and relegated the degree of response to the governors.

Supporting links? My memory is that states were eager for national leadership and organization but trump said not my responsibility espite having a national pandemic playbook.

Agreed.

Is that all you have? Fuck you have to be a Botanyboy Alt, either that or a cheap knock off.

Trump said on a recording on FEBRUARY 7th that COVID-19 was 5 times more deadly than the typical Flu. Trump admitted on recordings that he DOWN PLAYED the danger of COVID-19 to the public.

Trump still admits to downplaying it, and denies the science behind it.

Everyone in the outside world looks at Tumps handling of COVId-19 and shake their heads at his stupidity and ignorance.

Trump is a fool, the world sees this, but his supporters will bend over backwards to profess his genius. When that fails his supporters will deflect better than Terry Sawchuck, facing Maurice Richard....

I presume that ICan't is referring to the virus now justifiably known as the Trump Virus.

If God( and by God I mean the voices in some people's heads), Trump, Limbaugh, Hannity, etc doesn't tell them it's true, then no verified audio or video is going to convince them otherwise.

True believers are the fucking worst.
