"She's 12" was trending on Twitter this morning.
It was in reference to parents of a girl who wanted to change her name, because she hated her first name ("Klaire"). She wanted to change it to "Ace".

Around here there was a shooting at a University. There were two roommates and I
guess there was a dispute and the one shot the other. Both Freshman.

Apparently, there is a major breaking news story. ABC News is breathlessly reporting that they are going to work all through the night to bring you up to the minute news on a story where no news is really anticipated for 3-7 days.

It amuses me that this is a story that lots and lots of people that were gloating a few days ago about no politics on the general board would be really excited to talk about now.
Maybe we can discuss it in a new Butters, soon to be officially sanctioned, totally non-political thread on this breaking news story.

Things go in cycles. It's helpful to remember that the news is well aware that fear glues people to a newscast, so if there is a fear-based angle to a valid story, they are going to lean on that a bit.
. . .or make something up.
Current events are pretty, pretty, pretty good today. Too funny!
I wouldn't say they are bad. . . . I agree its funny as hell on a lot of different levels. It will continue to be funny, regardless of outcomes.
