Sorry for being away for a while. I had some funny feeling days and the home town families kept me busy. It will be the first grandchild for both sides so they are a little bit over-happy and organizing.

Many companies are still remote working. I don't know how long I will be able to stay as maternity allowance is not the same here and they would really like some of us to leave and become contract workers if we return, so they can employ new women graduates next year. Perhaps a professional contract working remotely and trying to have a few babies is a good plan for these times.

You weren't able to sleep in the same bed when you were visiting your families? It is a similar situation at my parents' home when my husband and I visit. Only two single beds for us there.

How does maternity allowance work in Japan, or with your company if it's not standardized? Are women less desirable as employees if they have children? Perhaps they prefer new graduates because they can pay them lower salaries.
