It's time to do SOMETHING about "Loving Wives" category

Personally, I like writing in it but the trolls suck all the fun out of it. Perhaps L.com can eliminate feedback in that category. I can live with the slings and arrows but rarely is there anything constructive with the vitriol. I understand that it attracts CERTAIN kinds of readers, but really? How many of us have stopped writing in that category altogether because of the trolls? I know that I prefer to put things elsewhere. Perhaps if comments were turned off, more of us would return to writing loving wives stories once more. I only get personal attacks for my loving wives stories. I try to laugh them off but after a while they just piss me off. Can ANYTHING be done about this problem?

Hey, I only post in Loving Wives when I WANT to get all the hilarious feedback! When I get tired of my little masterpieces getting ignored by the masses, I whip up a LW piece and just wait for the hilarity to roll in.

I think when you've been around for a while, you'll understand that those maintaining the Web site are pretty impervious to what anyone else thinks should be done about "doing SOMETHING" about anything. They pretty much are off on their own ideas what to do/change.

Post your stories in another category. Cuck stories will work in fetish, or you could go with the catch all EC.

Funny how the site is 'screening' comments, and there have been far fewer in the last couple of months despite what a couple of propaganda pushing posters (today's alliteration) will tell you....but all that LW hatred of women is still getting through and as frequently as ever.

Makes you think about the type of crowd the site wants to be sure they appease.

I’m currently working on a story that probably would best fit in the LW category if I applied the categories strictly, but there’s no way I’m going to publish it there, because I don’t hate women and I don’t want people who do to be the main group reading it.

That it does. On the other hand, my stories in every other category tend to draw praise.

That tells you something about the category, not the story. Disable comments when you submit there, and see the frustrated rage translate to a slump in the score. I don't see the dilemma myself - surely everybody knows there's a great divide in Lit, and you can choose which side of the river you land on?

Oh, no, no, please. Keep them penned there. Otherwise they’re gonna run havoc and piss on everyone’s cereal.

I'm not sure.

This problem has existed for quite a while, and no one has a good solution. Part of the "problem" is that it's not obviously and objectively wrong for people to dislike your story because it has cuckolding, despite the fact that cuckolding is meant to be a part o this category. Readers can vote or comment based on whatever criteria they choose.

My recommendation, if this bothers you, is to publish your stories to another category. There are many possibilities, depending on the content of the story. I've published stories with "hot wife" themes to Exhibitionist & Voyeur, and they've done very well, with minimal trolling.

I have long since lost my youthful idealism. No, I doubt anything can be done about it. I've posted there twice (the second story was a sequel to the first) and, with all of the drama, I still wound up with a 3.42 and a 3.16. I have done worse in other categories.

I did get a lot of attention, both good and bad, which is perhaps better than being ignored. And I have mentioned that once in a while, like maybe once a year, I will get a vitriolic comment in some category that turns out to be constructive after all - a bessing in disguise.

I've written a lot of LW stories. I laugh at all the comments and don't give a crap about the scores there. I just like to write LW stories. I do post in other categories also.

As said by JaF0 , turn off comments for those stories. It is an option at the time you submit it and even after it's been published. You can also turn off comments at the same time.

remove anonymous...problem solved

if you remove the ability to post anonymous comments - the problem would be solved. I was shocked at first by the feedback - but came to regard it as a sad/funny reflection of the coward anonymous posters.

People (us) come on here and let our guard down to some extent, and those idiots piss on us. we should know who they are, so we can react appropriately.

for now I just delete the comments and carry on. :)

What about a stickied thread in each genre's bulletin board section where writers nominate the "Best under 4.5" stories from other writers (not their own) so that good stories aren't just lost to the void? It's not much, but maybe it's a start?

This is the right attitude.

The trolls of LW suck. But they're not going to go away, and the Site is not going to break apart this category. So the reasonable thing to do is just to suck it up and take the heat, turn off the comments, or publish one's story in another category.

KeithD is correct: "impervious" is a great term to use when describing the site owners' openness to suggestions such as yours. And with good reason, in this case: you're posting here despite already knowing how to solve this problem:

1. "I know that I prefer to put things elsewhere."
2. "...if comments were turned off..."

There you go. You can make both those things happen. You can even look at the comments before you delete them, if you want. Problem solved, in spades.

Your wish is granted. Long live Jambi.
