Our local schools went back last Thursday...by Monday they were taking covid days and are now going remote. By order of the Health Department.

And it's going to backfire on them badly. The electorate isn't as stupid as they think, especially when the majority of the politicians are living in an echo chamber. "Rules are for thee and not for me" seems to be the mantra as more and more of those politicians expose themselves as blatant hypocrites.
That being said I'll repeat what I first posted back in Mar. This is going to run it's course. Everyone is going to be exposed sooner or later and the very vulnerable are going to die. The Wuhan Flu doesn't know, or care, about politics. Anyone that believes the government, at any level, is going to save them is delusional.

Could it be the people who believe that somehow the economy will magically return to normal if people just go back to living like they did pre-pandemic while Covid is still spreading in communities all over the country..
Trump should have been honest and direct when breaking the news to the American people about the serious nature of the virus. The federal government should have coordinated with the states as more became known about the novel Covid virus, and the CDC should have been empowered to implement national guidelines and mandates as the situation evolved.
The piece meal approach has resulted in hot spots flarimg up around the country, and it has ensured that the virus will still be prevalent in the fall when flu season arrives, thus exacerbating the crisis.

What a moron. The virus doesnt care how much panic you can induce. It's going to do what it's going to do which is infect the susceptible and kill off the vulnerable. We have had pandemics that were more infectious, and we've had them be more deadly. Nobody encouraged mass hysteria. They encouraged best practices and waited for it to extinguish itself.
And there you have Zumi giving the big thumbs up while he lives in the area presided over by the worst responses of any government entities. DR Conager, noted expert on pretty much everything, well except work, marriage, life skills, seems he can't hold a job so resorts to Uber driving, buys tires one at a time instead of in sets like most normal people.

Then there is Italy, the European county hit worse by this virus which ran rampant through it's population, has a death rate of 586. A very good recovery considering how bad it was only a few months back.
Oh should I mention, Italy locked down, tight, no fucking around there.
So Dr Conager has promoted not shutting down, and letting COVID-19 run it's course. Urinal has seconded the plan.
Makes me wonder what the death rate would have spiked up to in the US following those two's advice back in March?
To the point Dr Conager makes about it would be over by now, I say, look at Sweden, it is not over there, and they never shut down.
To Old Urinal I say, go out and help it along, shake hands, hug strangers, just spread it around. Though when you end up getting that positive test back, and the real Doctor says, well you have a virus which can be potentially deadly, it has a 10% higher fatality rate than the common flu. We have no real therapeutic treatment offering, and no vaccine, so I suggest you go home, self isolate, avoid contact with others and if you have trouble breathing make your way to a hospital.
In a couple weeks you will either be on the road to recovery or death, have a nice day!
Bet that will make your day, knowing your helping towards that goal of herd immunity!!
Me, I'll just follow the three simple steps of wearing a mask, washing my hands, and social distancing. While following those simple steps will not give me 100% protection on either contracting or spreading COVID-19, it is pretty easy to comply and it is a minor inconvenience for the greater good.
As to the those two, well good luck to them I say. COVID-19 is a crap shoot at best, maybe you never get it, or get it and die, maybe you only just get mildly sick or even next to no symptoms. Or maybe you get it and have organ troubles the rest of your life.
Time will tell.....

They have all the answers from all the experts and for the first time in the history of the world, the ability to stop an airborne pandemic in its tracks despite world-wide travel with hand-washing, social distancing, plexiglass, changeless debit cards and masks never designed to even inhibit an aerosolized virus.
I'd laugh my ass off if Karen Butters got it since in her world, only mask deniers get the disease.
Problem is, she probably won't. We know that about three million have had it, so we can't get any of them to bring it to Butters' disdained preacher. It is thought that cases actually identified represent about 10% of actual infections. If so that's another 27 million people that aren't available to infect her preacher. T-cell studies show strong response in as many as 40% of the population, whether they have had exposure to this particular coronavirus or not. The math is complicated there, because of the overlap.
Sadly, this virus might burn itself out before a series of masked carriers can bring it all the way to the holler to infect the sanctimonious Butters as would happen if there was a God, and he had any sense of humor

the denial about its ability to severely damage AND kill younger, healthy patients is downright dangerous and a deliberate policy to allow politicians to push kids, teachers, janitors and other school workers into buildings not necessarily equipped to cope with all the measures needed to maximise safety
hell, even before covid a large number of schools didn't have full-time nurses and the schools aren't getting the financial help needed to make sure schools have at least one in the building... and yet schools are expected to open, manage all the additional requirements, while at-risk staff can't work and it's a big old mess in too many places.

I don't know what you guys are seeing in your own lives, but in mine I am seeing normal 20-30 yr olds getting it, males in their 40's on live support, health low risk people who have died. The ones that recover, don't seem to recovery all that well.
I am also seeing death.
